Mark of Kri

Thunderbolt Games
10 December 2004
  • Excerpt: When I started up Mark of Kri I really didnít know what to expect, aside from the fact that itís an action/stealth game. I was quite aware that it was rated ìMatureî but from what Iíve seen of it, it looked a bit like Disneyís animated film ìThe Emperorís New Grooveî with the cartoony characters and all. As I approached the first group of enemies, I unsheathed my sword and prepared for combat.

  • Excerpt: There’s something strange going on here. I swear that its a conspiracy to make the kiddies more violent. If you were thinking of a plan to do just that, The Mark of Kri would be an excellent way of starting things off. Take luscious, Disney quality animated visuals, give the main character an over-exaggerated look and ‘ of course ‘ an animal friend (in this case, a parrot) and then watch as kids everywhere flock to play.

  • Excerpt: The Mark of Kri follows a fairly standard premise: lone warrior in a fantasy setting sets out to find fame, fortune, and eventually save the world. Just from this, however, you can't realize the extent of the game. Between the very easy to get into gameplay, incredible graphical style, good sound, and fairly decent story, The Mark of Kri is much more than just a basic premise.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: There's little more to add really. Thanks mostly to the intimate nature of its visuals, The Mark of Kri exudes a charm and personality all its own. Besides, you get to mash things. And that is good.

  • Excerpt: Jeez am I an emotional split on The Mark of Kri. On the one hand, the combat system is a masterpiece, something to be revered as you would a Renaissance master's work. It's that good. The problem is, the game spends lots of time fixating on really fleshing it out, and then tosses all that away for a final level that had me yawning in between fits of sheer frustration.

Mark of Kri, The

The Next Level
16 August 2002
  • Excerpt: All of these additions create a thoroughly fantastic world, yet skillfully consistent and grounded in reality. The gameplay itself would also have to be considered another big collection, with elements of stealth, sniping, and keen observation betwixt hacking and slashing. Kri 's main fault is that these haven't been smoothed over with as much care as the art and animation has, but at least it never loses ground and, by the end, the game becomes a roaring mass of...

The Mark of Kri

Game Over Online
31 July 2002
  • Excerpt: For every evil, there is a greater good, For every innocent, there is a protector, For every legend, there is a hero. Return with me to a simpler time: When heroes were born not out of circumstance, but legendary feats of bravery, justice and selflessness. When threats to safety and security came not only from humanity, but supernatural realms as well. When man and gods waged the eternal struggle between good and evil on a daily basis.
