The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga

Playstation Illustrated
8 March 2010
  • Excerpt: It gets difficult to keep talking about the look of SNK fighters every time someone decides to round a bunch of them up in a collection like this. Basically, on the oldest games in The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga , you can count the pixels. They did the best they could on the NEO GEO hardware, and this was ahead of the game for quite a while. But toward the latter end, you can see that they were pushing the limits.

PSX Extreme
30 January 2009
  • Excerpt: The King of Fighters franchise has been SNK's ultimate mash-up of fighters that includes characters from a variety of SNK's fighting games, including Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, Psycho Soldier, and Ikari Warriors. The two latter games you may not have heard of, which is largely because they weren't as popular as SNK's other titles, but they still did contribute a number of characters to the KOF franchise throughout the years.

HonestGamers
4 January 2009
  • Excerpt: alone, and not a single person would blame you. But included is five years of iconic team battling all held together by an over-branching plot that would do numerous RPGs proud, the trip back in time is indeed appreciated.

The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga review (PS2)

HonestGamers
15 November 2008
  • Excerpt: really does feel like a complete game that could have stood alone—precisely as you see it here—and even fetched a similar price. It's the reason that you might feel good about reaching for your wallet. Unless you're a history buff, unless you care to learn more about each character featured in the series and his or her evolution over the years... you won't spend much time with any but this final selection.
