The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction PS2 Review

Console Obsession

  • Excerpt: The previously released Hulk was an admirable attempt at capturing the essence of the green muscled monster and the path of destruction that he leaves in his wake. It was the Bruce Banner stealth sections that many people took a disliking to, if we had to choose between taking control of a powerless scientist and a hulking unstoppable monster, then we’d definitely know who we would go for.

  • Excerpt: The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction's story is told across eight chapters, and features over 30 story missions, 40+ story side challenges, and six boss battles against foes like Abomination, Devil Hulk, and Mercy. In a nutshell, Bruce Banner is already the Hulk and Emil Blonsky is hell bent on destroying him. As the game progresses, you'll find that there's more to Blonsky than meets the eye, and he's got more on his mind than just taking out Banner.

  • Excerpt: Finally, a Hulk game where the phrase “Hulk SMASH!” really means something. As the jade goliath, you can inflict wanton destruction on nearly every single thing you come across as you stroll through the city or desert wasteland. And unless it’s a human, if you can touch it you can also use it as a weapon.
  • Cons: Man side missions.

  • Excerpt: Superhero games have long been decried as an ineffective sub-category of usually action games. From Batman games (with the exception of Batman Begins and the NES-era Batman), Superman, and Aquaman, all have failed miserably. Spider-Man would be a special case, with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction an incredible exception to this rule of superhero-based games as not being of acceptable quality.

Age of Pirates
