Summary: I rented the game when I was 6, but I didn't understand it. I Bought it last year when GameCrazy went out of business, and I have been hooked ever since. Although it would be easier to give hints in game, I learned techniques in the pause screen, like how to recover health. The game itself was a lot more realistic than any Grand Theft Auto game before 4. Playing as Mark, the vengeful ex-criminal, was a man-against-the-world type style as you fight to recover your son.
Summary: this game is so fun. the first mission was really hard though. but i guess that was because i was playing it for the first time. now that i know how to play better, i absolutely love this game! i would recommend this to 100 friends!
Summary: 1st thing that was awsome was the grafics i cant belive how good they were. 2nd the story was a little confusing because first 12 missions you play as a criminal the the other 12 you play as a cop. 3rd the thing that i dont like is that you can free rome!!! witch is pritty stupid because the city is london and i would like to explore it. 4th if you like being a criminal then a cop this is a good game for you.
Summary: I played this game years ago when it first came out and its still great today. It's a classic and not a GTA rip off. This game has it own style and way of doing things and it works. Its simply a great game that I will never get rid of. The game is not too short, there are 24 missions total. You play 12 missions as a "criminal" and 12 missions as a police officer tracking the "criminal". Its a great story for mature audiences only due to language and content.
Summary: This game is fun and exciting to play. Though many people dislike it because of the long scenes in between missions, you dont have to watch them. By simply pressing the L3 button you can easily skip the movie. Comparing it to GTA is a dumb idea, theyre nothing alike at all. They each take place in different countries, have somewhat different themes, and unlike GTA, The Getaway has a MUCH better story.
Summary: If This Is You(exaggerated or not): 1) ZOMG!1! This game is too linear! 2) Why should a game have long cutscenes? It's not a movie!!! -and the ever popular- 3) It's like Grand Theft Auto in England!!! DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! You'll look, feel, and be foolish. Side effects include: turning into a fanboy, ranting, ranting on forums, ensuing in oil and water arguments, generally pissing people off. If THIS is you: 1) I like The Transporter, Snatch, and/or Tarantino kitsch.

Summary: The Getaway, of course, has been compared to the GTA series since it came out. But the truth is, it's not even close to it. It is much more realistic, with no health meter and it doesn't tell you how much ammo you have. It is extremely realistic. It takes place in London, and the city is done amazingly, right down to the last shanty, and it's huge. It takes forever to get from one end to the other.
Summary: The Getaway is an astonishing game for the PS2. Its combined plot, action, gameplay and recreation London in its entirety all merit it for 5 stars. The story of the Getaway is real. It is very believable and not Hollywood-ized like the GTAs. The plot twists are unexpected yet believable. Anyone who plays the Getaway will always know the plot, understand why something is happening, and not question its believability.
