Summary: Most of the storyline missions just feel bland. I had to turn off all the lights in my house just to see where i was going in the first mission. if you think free play mode will be exactly like GTA, you are wrong, my friends. while there are cars to "steal", they aren't all that good, and it's harder to make your car blow up in anyway possible. and there is no police force to try and arrest you (not even a wanted star level system).
Summary: The first game The Getaway was and still is a classic Playstation 2 game but something went terribly wrong with this follow up. The controls are unresponsive and the storyline and gameplay poor. You can be within touching distance of a bad guy but as long as you're on a different level, ie. standing on a lower stair, then they can't see you and you can take all the time in the world to fire away and elimate him/her.
Summary: Not worth the money, controlling the characters and the cars is nearly impossible to do right. The cars dynamics are very unrealistic. These problems have, until now, made me get zo irritated that I have not yet finished a single mission succesfully because I get so annoyed with the controls that I stop in the middle of the mission, shut down the PS2 and insert the GTASA cd instead to calm my nerves.
Summary: Black Monday has done nothing to address the problems with the first Getaway game, in fact this game is far poorer than the original. The same sloppy targeting system, no advancements in the car handling and even shorter than the original. Many question comparisons to GTA in their attempt to defend this game. I however question the comparisons because the excellent GTA games should never be compared to this atrocious Getaway sequel.
Summary: Oh dear, what can I say. The original game was the inspiration behind my buying the PS2 console, so you can imagine that I was looking forward to the sequel. Well having played and completed the game in a week I can say that the sense of disappointment was crushing, and I couldn't help but feel that if this was the game that had come out first they would never have bothered with a follow up.
Summary: I managed to complete this game in just 5 hours. i found the story line dull and there just wasn't a single part of the game that took practise. I am a big lover of the GTA games and found this to be i pathetic copy. after completing the game i had a look at the extra features and found that these are even worse. a part from the language in the game i would say this would be a good game for 9 year olds to prepare them for the freedom and great gaming GTA offers.
Summary: The first getaway was amazing - you could actually just go off piste and check out London if you were bored of the mission which was pretty good fun. The new one stops you doing this and the screen just blacks out and says 'mission failed'. The characters in the first 1 were also superb - Hammond and then the bent cop on the edge.
