The Bouncer, bounces off my shelf

Prince Eric , GameStop
13 November 2008
  • Summary: Players who enjoy action and a short storyline, this game is for you. The player gets a choice between three main heroes. The player when choosing a hero starts off the game, after a few hours all the levels can be completed. The game expects you to start the game over again with a new hero to continue the storyline. The storyline is not extensive it is quite short to be honest. The Bouncer is made for a quick game of action and fun. The Bouncer is like an arcade game.

It isn't that bad

David Power, MobyGames

  • Conclusion: A fun mindless and strangely addictive concoction of good graphics and gameplay.
  • Pros: The graphics and videos of this game are of a high quality giving smooth enjoyable gameplay, furthermore the advancement and building up of your character is a great addition.
  • Cons: While the single player game is very good, the other modes are somewhat lacking and there are many better mulitplayer beatem ups out there.

  • Summary: The Bouncer is a beat em up for the Playstation 2 developed by Square Enix or Squaresoft as they were previously known. The Bouncers story line follows three bouncers Volt, Sion and Kou who work for a bar named Fate, yes you can tell Square had a hand in making it with a silly names like that! One day the bar is broken into and Dominique is kidnapped.
  • Pros: Good fighting with a good storyline
  • Cons: To much story?

The Bouncer (PS2): Who knew Bouncers were so good at brawling? It's like Final ...

  • Summary: About a year after the Playstation 2 was released, ‘Square’ released their first game to appear on Sony’s new console. No, it wasn’t the sequel in the hit ‘Final Fantasy’ series, nor was it a sequel to their many other games like ‘Vagrant Story’ or ‘Secret of Mana’. In fact it wasn’t even a Role-Playing Game. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you…’The Bouncer’!
  • Pros: Beautiful graphics; excellent sound; decent replay-ability; gameplay isn't half bad
  • Cons: Short; simplistic gameplay is very easy; short; camera is problematic; SHORT GODDAMIT!

You Don't Want To Be Bounced By These!

  • Excerpt: "...Streets of Rage, this is the first beat-em-up game that Square-Enix has made, and it is called The Bouncer. It is a fighting game, and has lots of things for you to do, great fun for all ages and lasts for ages. Game ***** There are quite a few things you are able to do on this game and it worth a purchase, especially if you loved the streets of rage series. Anyway, there is Story Mode, which allows you to go around the streets and beat people ...

  • Excerpt: "...is not a coincidence as the Japanese are usually the ones that are best on RPGs which are my favourite style of game, but the game I am reviewing (which I am suprised to be the first) is not a RPG it is actually a very good 'beat 'em up'. This game is made by the creators of Final Fantasy , Squaresoft who have been very succesful with there Final Fantasy series which I am a great fan of. Storyline This game follows the life of three men in ...

  • Excerpt: "...a game to keep the millions of Final Fantasy fans busy whilst they were waiting for Final Fantasy 10 was never going to be n easy task for Squaresoft. Rather than create another traditional RPG to fill the gap they decided to go along a slightly different avenue and create a part RPG, part Beat ‘em Up and part action game hybrid with huge amounts of cinema and storyline thrown in for good measure. The result of this was the interestingly entitled ...

Stunning looking playable movie

irishmatt, Dooyoo
9 January 2002
  • Summary: The way the game was summed up by its producers Square was 'Play the action movie'. The Bouncer is set at a bar called Fate being protected by 3 bouncers Sion Barzahd, Volt Kreuger and Kou Leifoh. Yep strange names but it's a videogame! This bar has more than its fair share of trouble, in the first scene a group of soldiers of the 'Mikado Group', a big evil corporation burst into the bar and kidnap a young girl Dominique Cross who is a sort of mascot for the bar.
  • Pros: Cut scenes look stunning
  • Cons: Too much like a playable movie

The Bouncer (PS2): The Bouncer

yago82, Dooyoo
29 November 2001
  • Summary: The Bouncer seems to be able to be innovative for the addiction of some element that appears for the first time in this kind of game, unfortunately the total realization is not very good and all it is reduced to a game that not excellent in any fields. The modalities available, like the versus and the survival mode, are not sufficient to compensate for brevity of the story mode, that it can be completed in only two hours.

  • Excerpt: "The first thing i thought when i seen 'The Bouncer' was 'WOW WOW and some more WOW'!! This game looked amazing when early screen shots were released, you could pick up tables and weapons. I thought great, the PS2 will have an excellent title there like! But it all went wrong, parts of the game was dropped (no weapons)! The game was getting patetic reviews in Japan, i thought 'Oh no' i don't think i will buy this game after all. So i rented and ...
  • Pros: Fun, best graphics i have seen on PS2 (except maybe for GT3)
  • Cons: a bit basic, FAR TOO SHORT
