The Bouncer for PS2

  • Excerpt: *A review of The Bouncer based primarily on the single-player experience.* Sion's favourite brand of clothing may be Dog Street, but it's surprising there are no run-ins with the fashion police in this game. But, as the bar Fate would have it, it would be a long night for Sion, Kou and Volt, as these three bouncers set out to save their friend Dominique whom has been kidnapped by Mikado Special Forces.

The Bouncer bounced off me

  • Excerpt: "...than an interactive film. I bought the game and expected a damn good piece of game play but after about "6" (yes I said SIX) levels and three hours of FMV it's over! Then you play the game again, with a slight twist here n there, nothing too spectacular and far from compulsive to play again. The levels are NOT hard if you're good or experienced on tekken, but the graphics are a marvel. Take your pic on games but be weary of this one before you ...
  • Pros: It has a lot of detailed FMV's
  • Cons: There's not much gameplay

  • Excerpt: What better way to spend a hung over filled New Year’s Day than playing on the PS2. AH I thought I’ll play the bouncer and that was my biggest mistake. Being female and a relatively novice beat 'em up player I thought I was in for a tough time. How wrong could I be? At first on the two-player mode my fears were confirmed. I watched as my player was beaten to a pulp by my smug opponent.

  • Excerpt: "...bad guys. Large characters, the ability to build up their attributes, new moves to learn, pitched battles, great movie sequences etc etc etc. Oh yes, it sure sounds good. Fact is though, it's rubbish. Many reviews in magazines and on Ciao have stated that this game has great graphics. The characters are large and detailed, the animation is good, use of colour and texture has been applied well and basically the graphics are good but then this is ...
  • Pros: Fallen bodies stay where they fell
  • Cons: Terrible gameplay, boring, slow .

  • Excerpt: The Bouncer is one of the strongest graphical demonstrations of the PlayStation2 hardware so far. When playing it appears as though you are a character in a movie, the camera movements and special effects appear as though they are straight out of a Hollywood film. The Bouncer is a fighting game in the same genre as fighting force on the PSX. You've got huge, open environments, weapons lying around ready to be used much more.

  • Excerpt: "...that stood out from all the rest. The graphics where amazing and the characters looked pretty cool but when I'd looked in the playstation magazine all I saw where bad reviews. Finally I made my choice and got this game out. The game is all about three bouncers (Sion, Kou and Volt) who work in a bar called 'Fate'. They job is to throw out drunks, check for fake ID's and brake up fight to protect the bar! One day some bad guys brake into the bar ...
  • Pros: Good graphics, good while it lasts
  • Cons: Gameplay

  • Excerpt: Having played games for a ridiculously long time, (first console was the mattel intelevision. Who remembers that?) you would have thought that I would never buy a game on the strength of the packaging and a few screenshots. Well you'd be wrong because that's what I did with the bouncer. Looking at the box and desperate to increase my PS2 game collection I thought, "great! a plot driven beat'em up in a long underused renegade format". And partly that's what I got.
  • Cons: "Yawn enducing cut scenes."

  • Excerpt: Finally The Bouncer is exited in Japan, and while all excite to you if they are tasting it, the picchiaduro of the Square have been demonstrated to be under the expectations. But, in all honesty, what never could have still added in order to exceed a such level? The Bouncer is amusing, a inappuntabile and beautifulst game that, like Tobal, works being based on one history.
