Tekken 4

Thunderbolt Games
10 August 2006
  • Excerpt: Tekken. It’s arguably the greatest 3D fighting game series ever conceived. After years of fame and popularity in the arcades and on the Playstation, the franchise was finally ready to make that big leap onto the PS2 in hopes of maintaining its iron grip on the fighting genre. After the incredibly successful debut of Tekken Tag Tournament on the new console, the future of Tekken looked pretty bright…until the previews for Tekken 4 started showing up.

Tekken 4

Into Liquid Sky

  • Excerpt: Tekken 4 is the fifth entry in Namco's flagship fighting series ( Tekken Tag Tournament being the fourth), and while not quite a huge leap forward, there are enough new additions to make this more than just " Tekken 3.5 ". The first and most noticeable new additions are the completely 3-D movement and the enclosed arenas, both a first for the series.
  • Pros: Lots of variety in fighters and styles, Easy to pick up and play, Great Graphics
  • Cons: Practice and Training could use some work, New features don't add much to game play

Tekken 4

The Next Level
1 November 2002
  • Excerpt: Much like past Tekken games, Tekken 4 has the Mishima clan at odds again, with the returning Kazuya Mishima (who was thought dead after being thrown into a volcano) and Jin Kazama seeking revenge against the leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu corporation, Heihachi. The biggest change in the Tekken series is the move away from the infinite playing field, replacing it with finite arenas that contain destructible objects that you can smash your opponent into.

  • Excerpt: The best thing about the Tekken fighting games is that, unlike most of their competition, they do not degenerate into the attack-two-three, block-two-three, attack-two-three pattern. In Tekken , you can quite easily throw punches and kicks in huge ten-move combinations, juggling your hapless opponent in the air with the force of your blows. This results in the fastest, most-exciting virtual brawling possible.

Tekken 4

GamersHell.com
12 July 2002
  • Excerpt: Tekken is surely one of the games which pathed the way for the playstation-machines in becoming the most successful console systems ever. Whereas in the beginning (on PS1) the Tekken series pretty much stood alone concerning its game play and graphical qualities , times have certainly changed. Following the “Tekken Tag Tournament” game, Tekken 4 struggles against tough opponents: Virtua Fighter 4 and Dead or Alive 2 to name the most prominent ones.

Tekken 4 -

Futuregamez.net

  • Summary: Tekken 4 is another great game in Namco's legendary series. There have been a few changes to the game, which keeps it fresh, and the graphics are stunning. With the poor PAL port of Tekken Tag , this is the game of choice on the PS2, despite no tag mode. Get it now.
