Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PS2 Review

Console Obsession
31 May 2010
  • Excerpt: We have fond childhood memories of the Teenage Mutant “Hero” Turtles, they represented everything that was cool to us and also happened to be giant -Pizza eating- turtles named after famous painters, it was a terrible concept but at the time we loved it. Recently Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael have been on the comeback trail and this game is a result of their attempted return and a spin-off of their latest TV outing.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Despite its linearity, TMNT is a fun game which grips the player with its speed, ease of play and nimbleness. Fairly soon into the game and one even loses sight of the fact that they cannot deviate from the path. However, it is still worth considering what might have been - a Crackdown style world with Ninja Turtles abilities and co-op multiplayer? That would surely be worth a cowabunga or two.

  • Excerpt: Y’know, there are times when you just long for a good old-fashioned scrolling beat-’em-up along the lines of the Megadrive’s Streets of Rage series. Usually, when this kind of hunger strikes, its time to dig into the miles and miles of cable in your cupboard, with the idea being that after taking two hours to find an RF cable, a power lead and a controller, you’ll have reached gaming nirvana.

  • Excerpt: Konami is once again bringing the Turtles franchise to gamers everywhere. This time, as implied above, the turtles are based on the current TV show. Shredder, their all-time nemesis, is causing trouble. The story starts in the Turtles' lair as they are training and mouser robots interrupt them. This represents the beginning of the Turtles story as this game's plot does not follow the show, the comic, or anything else (movies, books, etc.) for that matter.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (old)

  • Excerpt: Saturday morning cartoons were once a staple of every young child in the early nineties, and along with the cartoons came lunch boxes, straight to video movies, and more importantly, videogames. One such videogame following America’s favorite fighting turtles was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game. A hit in the arcade along with great sales on the console market brought more turtles to every kid’s living room.

TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Review (PS2)

Konsolen-World
1 December 2009
