For Really Patient People Only

Matt The Man, Amazon

  • Summary: I have really enjoyed the SF series over the years but this game was extremely frustrating to learn. Gameplay is godawful! You used to be able to start a mission over quickly with a push of a couple of buttons; now you have to quit the mission and then wait for the darn thing to reload.

Disappointing, complicated and not on par with predecessors.

  • Summary: If you like the Syphon Filter series, perhaps you felt the same anticipation for this first of the series on PS2 that I did. I was disappointed. The story concept was still good...but the designers missed the mark in many ways. Graphics, music and mood are all top-notch. So what didn't I like?

Mindless Shoot em' up--would be fun if you could see it

Amazon
11 September 2004
  • Summary: Relating to it's previous games, Syphon FilterLOmega Stain is a 3rd person shooter with little (to almost none) planning of strategy of the shootout. The game usually sends you in a base filled with terrorists of dumb AI but big weapon power (their accuracy can later into the levels be almost...

  • Summary: This game is really hard. I haven't even gotten past the second level. You cant save during a mission which makes it hard to have fun when you need to play for 40 minutes to finish a mission. But if you can somehow reach the par times, then I guess it would be ok.

What Happened, Gabe?

Amazon
16 May 2004
  • Summary: Omega Strain tries to please everyone, but it ends up pleasing no one. There are some good things here, like creating and customizing your own agent, but as far as I can see, that's the ONLY good thing and that's certainly not enough to redeem it.

A tremendous disappointment

"bigcal98", Amazon

  • Summary: The original Syphon Filter was one of the ground-breaking action games for PS2 in recent memory. That was followed by a decent sequel and the execrable Syphon Filter 3. And now, the final chapter.

omega strain sucks!!

DOM "D.S", Amazon
17 January 2008
  • Summary: I bought this game for the ps2 the other day and it hasn't really taken my fancy. I think the problem is that they give you a time limit in each mission, which is something that I don't think they should do. I had such high hopes for it, but now I think Syphon Filter has taken a downhill toll.

  • Excerpt: I've always been a great fan of Syphon filter and still believe that it is better than metal gear solid (controversial I know). The first two games in the series are all time classics and then the third came out.
  • Pros: reasonable gaming experience
  • Cons: some very annoying features
