Summoner review (PS2)

HonestGamers
5 August 2010
  • Excerpt: The dialogue gives the game an illusion of vastness. Take Murod, for example. The only time your party meets him is fairly late in the game when you fight him to the death. But it FEELS like he's a much more substantial character simply due to all the conversations you have that describe his character by detailing how he usurped his throne and plans to build an immense tower to the skies to conquer heaven.

  • Excerpt: Like most games when the PS2 came out, this one escaped my notice until long after I bought a PS2. I had been told of the PC version, but I didn't realise it had also been released for the PS2, so after much debate, I went ahead and bought the game, and I was very pleased with my decision.
  • Pros: + Pros-Great story line and battle system
  • Cons: - Cons-When money was concerned, depended too much on sidequests

Summoner

Into Liquid Sky
26 November 2004
  • Excerpt: Summoner starts with the tale of Joseph, a young man who as a boy summoner a monster to save his village from attackers, only to have the monster run amok, killing friend and foe. From that point, he swore never to use his power. That is, until his current village is sieged by soldiers looking for him and he must flee to find Yago, a man who would help him learn how to use his summoning power.
  • Pros: Pseudo-real time combat system is refreshing, Areas are immense, Tons of NPCs to interact with, Numerous mini-quests
  • Cons: Insane loading times, Poor map system, Graphics can be ugly at times

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: Playstation's success for the most part has mostly been because of the RPGs that the system provides, Wild Arms was Sony's very own RPG and it was quite well received, then we all got Final Fantasy VII, which to this day is considered to be the greatest RPG ever by many people, FFVIII and FFIX followed, as well a sequel to Chrono Trigger called Chrono Cross, and Legend of Dragoon, which I still believe and so do millions of other people is one of the best RPGs on PSOne.
