  • Summary: Scratchy round the edges and occasionally moronic, Stolen isn’t so much a moment-to-moment stealth title as a textbook

Stolen

  • Excerpt: Stolen is a tale of wasted potential. That’s not what it’s really about; it tries to be a smart thriller with political intrigue at the wheel, but the story isn’t very well written or implemented, so you won’t even notice all that. It’s a stealth title featuring a sexy female thief, and in a world dominated by ultra-cool and macho Solid Snake types, the black leather clad Anya Romanov (think Underworld) is a welcome as well as delicious sight.

  • Conclusion: Overall, Stolen just doesn't have much to offer to even the most diehard stealth fans. Once you complete the game there's no reason to ever play it again. There are no difficulty settings or interesting unlockables; there are only a few concept stills you can access by performing well in each level. In the end, Stolen feels like a budget title being sold at full price, and with so many good stealth games already available, there's simply no reason to play this one.
  • Pros: Fun minigames add variety to the gameplay, Interesting platforming challenges.
  • Cons: Terrible graphics and bland environments, Weak characters and flimsy plot, Incompetent AI makes the game too easy, Combat system is laughable, Short game with no replay value.

  • Excerpt: To be brutally honest, until I was presented with the opportunity to review Stolen, I really didn’t hear much about it. You take control of Anya, a jewel thief who tries to go for a big score in the gaming realm but falls flat on her face. If Stolen was released a few years ago, it may actually have been a pretty good title. There is truth to the title though that doesn’t tie to this game.

  • Conclusion: While the game looks to be a little too linear for its own good, things are still on the upside. We're looking forward to the release of the game with its stylish visuals, stealth gameplay (that isn't more of the same), and sound effects that really immerse you into the game, making you aware at all times what is in your surroundings. Another important aspect to this game is the fact that the controls are never too complicated.

Stolen

Level 7
22 September 2005

  • Conclusion: Wer ist der wahre Meisterdieb? Anya Romanov?
  • Pros: tolle Gadgets, dynamischer Sound, gute Steuerung, coole Meisterdiebin
  • Cons: knapper Umfang, grafisch hinter den Erwartungen, nervendes Timing, nix wirklich Neues
