Star Wars Super Bombad Racing

Into Liquid Sky
27 March 2006
  • Excerpt: Never has one word been used overtly and continuously throughout a piece, be it a movie, cartoon or game, since the Smurfs abused the word "Smurf" to describe everything that needed an adjective. This word is "Bombad", the term coined by JarJar Binks in Star Wars: Episode One , which supposedly means awesome or bad (as in -to-the-bone). But enough about this.
  • Pros: Quick and easy to pick up, Great for multiplayer sessions, Translation to "cute" characters well done
  • Cons: Power-ups are mostly ineffective, Long loading times, Races are easy to beat

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: Just like the gaming industry had a difficult time improving upon 1080, until SSX hit the shelves, they've had a similarly difficult time improving upon the SNES classic Super Mario Kart. Every character from Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, and even Crash Bandicoot has had their own racing game, and with the exception of Crash Team Racing nobody has gotten close to the game that started it all.

Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing

Playstation Illustrated
22 July 2003
  • Excerpt: The world of Star Wars is very visually lush--especially the original trilogy--and capturing that in a videogame is one of the first signs of a good effort in using the Star Wars license. Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing manages to do that, although you have to tough your way through some rather uninspired levels before you get to the really beautiful ones. The first few stages, generally set on Naboo or Tatooine, are relatively drab and unimpressive.

Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing

Gamebits

  • Excerpt: Star Wars video games just don't seem to "get it." Despite being set in the dark fantasy world that drew so many people to the movies, the games just don't have the same appeal.

  • Excerpt: Pasting intrepid Star Wars characters into a pipsqueak fantasy kart rally game full of chortling fathead drivers ricocheting down ludicrously entertaining raceways would seem to diminish George Lucas illustrious franchise somewhat, wouldnt it? But heck, since Episode 1: The Phantom Menace already did such irrevocable diminishing - might as well have some goofball fun with it.

Star Wars : Super Bombad Racing

JeuxVideo.fr
7 May 2003
