Star Wars StarFighter

Game Boyz
2 January 2003
  • Excerpt: Published by: LucasArts Developed by: LucasArts 1-2 Players Memory Card- 200KB Analog Control Vibration Function Da Introduction: It's a shame when a popular franchise built on creativity and originality takes a backseat to marketing and product flogging. It seems the Star Wars game franchise from LucasArts definitely headed in this direction after the movie release of Episode One.

Star Wars: Starfighter

Playstation Illustrated
24 December 2002
  • Excerpt: For the most part, the graphics in Star Wars: Starfighter are absolutely fantastic. Flying around in space with tons of ships zipping by is just breathtaking, and the planet surfaces are only slightly less so. The engine does snag a little when there's a lot of on-screen action, but it's not so much as to make the game unplayable. The draw distances on the planets is a little shorter than I'd like as well. It's not unmanageable, but it is something of an annoyance.

Star Wars: Starfighter

FunRanch.com
4 April 2002
  • Excerpt: You say you like Star Wars? You say you like space combat? I'd go buy this game right now.
  • Pros: Great gameplay, good story, and a lot of fun.
  • Cons: The X-Box got a "Special Edition" with a two-player mode that would have made this game maybe twice as fun. Lucasarts should have put it in the PS2 version as well.

Star Wars Starfighter Review

GameSpot
1 February 2002
  • Excerpt: Star Wars Starfighter is LucasArts' first title for the PlayStation 2. The game takes the concepts put forth in the company's N64 Star Wars games--Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo--and kicks them up a notch, adding a deeper, more enjoyable story, more solidified flight mechanics, and, of course, spectacular graphics.

Star Wars Starfighter

The Armchair Empire

  • Conclusion: more than they’ll be complaining. Sound-wise the game has everything you’d here in the Star Wars movies, so that means plenty of good laser blast sounds, engine noise, and intermittent R2-like sounds. The music is straight out of Episode One as well, so there is lots and lots of very good orchestral pieces.  What is particularly surprising is the sheer quality of the voice acting in Starfighter.

Star Wars: Starfighter

Gamebits
5 March 2001
  • Excerpt: Many gamers, myself included, have been waiting with great anticipation for LucasArts' latest attempt at bringing a class act Star Wars title worthy of the name to a console system. This time they got it right. Starfighter is filled with intense 3D air and space combat action all within the Star Wars universe, circa Episode I. You will control three different pilots as they take on the evil Trade Federation.

Star Wars Starfighter

Evergeek
8 February 2001
  • Excerpt: It’s no secret among diehard Star Wars fans the last few video games from LucasArts have been hit and miss. That is, for every impressive offering such as Episode I: Racer or Battle for Naboo, there’s also been galactic flops such as Force Commander and Jedi Power Battles. Fortunately, the force is with LucasArts’ latest, entitled Star Wars Starfighter, likely the first of many for the popular PlayStation 2 platform.
