  • Summary: Star Trek: Conquest is a game for strategy enthusiasts and Trekkies, and probably not suitable from an entertain standpoint for anyone who is not a part of one of these groups. If you are curious, rent it. If not, don't bother.
  • Pros: Excellent for Start Trek Strategy Fans, Fine use of Star Trek source material, Good replay ability
  • Cons: Poor learning curve without much help from the game itself, Ship controls are somewhat lacking, Not entertaining if you aren't a strategy or Trek fan.

  • Conclusion: Great Roddenberry’s ghost, how things have changed: There was a time, not so long ago, when no publisher would have dared to take the kind of liberties from a license that have been taken with Star Trek: Conquest . If the Great Bird of the Galaxy hadn’t left orders to have himself cremated, he would be doing more RPMs in his grave than a high-performance Tipler Cylinder . And yet, there’s something fond in this oddball, flawed little game.
  • Pros: Beer-and-pretzels gameplay, Sim your battles out, or come in swinging, Simple but solid visuals, The Federation gloves are off
  • Cons: Not much depth, Chews and spits out Trek canon, No multiplayer, Mode-anemic

  • Excerpt: This was a pretty hard game to review; not because it was necessarily difficult to play, but because for every good reaction that I felt about the game, there was an equal and opposite reaction as well. (Mr. Hewett, my old physics teacher, would be proud of me for that statement.) The scenario of Star Trek Conquest is basically “us against them.” The galaxy (in the Next Generation era) has gone to seed and all alliances and fuzzy feelings between the races are gone.
