Into The Barrel, ANNNNNNNNND Scrape!

Matthew Stoneman "90's Guy", amazon.co.uk
4 February 2014
  • Summary: It may seem like a bit of a harsh review title to aim at the blue hedgehog given that most of the games here are 90's 2D outings, his best years (as well as a couple of 3D ones); but considering that most of his classic titles can be found on Sonic Mega Collection Plus (PS2) as well as the SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection (PS3), Sonic Gems Collection for the PS2 does feel somewhat like the leftovers of a chilli dog convention.

supplemental review

DeeeeeJay, amazon.co.uk
13 October 2012
  • Summary: This isn't going to be a huge review as such, more a supplement to what others have commented on. I found Sonic the Fighters to be an amusing diversion. What actually shocked me was not Sonic but my first exposure to Vectorman which was on the PS2 disk as an extra. I had no idea what I had been missing. It was literally stunning in terms of interesting game play graphics and story. Quite compelling. I recommend purchasing this to get your hands on it.

inferior compared to the import

R. Wiltshire "shinkosai", amazon.co.uk
24 July 2011
  • Summary: For some bizarre reason (probably through lack of research by the devlopers and certification) the europe version of this game has the 3 extra streets of rage games missing, add to that the personal preferance of do you prefer the english or japenese music tracks on sonic cd and you might find it better to get the japenese version instead if your ps2 can play it.

Worth it for Sonic CD alone but Gamecube version should have filled in the missing Master System/Game Gear games.

Mr. Mj Plevin "asterickjones", amazon.co.uk
14 August 2010
  • Summary: OK Sonic completists, if you were a little bit disturbed that some of the best and most overlooked early Sonic titles were mercilessly left off the so-called Sonic Mega Collection then finally you have to look not much further, they are (mostly) all here. Sonic Gems Collection is the second compilation which digs up Sonic titles from Sega's past and makes them playable on your still newly fangled PS2 and Gamecube.

Hardcore fans are better off Importing the Japanese Version...

Guru Larry "Presenter for XLeague TV (Sky Chn..., amazon.co.uk
24 January 2009
  • Summary: I've been looking forward to Sonic Gems for many many moons, now dont get me wrong it's a fantastic game. But unfortunaly Sega have decided to be lazy an port over the US version of the Game instead of the Japanese version... It sounds nit picking yes, but The big selling point for SOnic fans in this title is Sonic CD.
