Summary: Overall, I recommend the SOCOM games. They are very well done. But when I read a review, I like to see the criticisms so I know what may make me decide weather or not to make the purchase. A few levels into this game and I am realizing I'm just not enjoying it the way I thoroughly enjoyed SOCOM I. I think these are great games but there are definitely some changes in II that are not for the better. cons: 1.
Summary: SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs contributed to PS2's success being a really good Online game.I bought US Navy SEALs cheap along with a USB Headset, Online equipment(ethernet cable, disc and reuter) and joined a couple of forums to get into Online clans(Gamespot,IGN,NSG etc) since absolutely none of my friends have SOCOM or Online play. The game weapons obviously as its a shooter game.It has M4,AK-47,AK-74,M16,AK-105 etc. So theres some of the best rifles in the world.
I've got morons on my side... (a review for single player only!)

Summary: Okay, you can read about why this game is so great from everyone else. The graphics are great, yadda yadda yadda. But here's what no one seems to be mentioning. Team AI is ridiculous. The people you're sent out to do a mission with aren't smart enough to tie their own shoes, and spend most of their time catching bullets, or shooting you in the back if you're unlucky enough to be stuck in close quarters with them.
Summary: Socom 2 is definitly better with the headset, but even so, this game is pretty cool. The missions are hard and most of the time you don't know what the next objective is. If you're not an expearenced gamer at shooting games then this is not for you. One good thing is, you can select a command to give to your squad. Also, the weapons are cool, and there are a big veriety of them.
It's a good first try but they need to fix several problems

Summary: I'm hoping there will be a part 2 to this game. Most of the game is great and the concept of the headset is awesome. The areas where it fails are several annoyances that will drive you crazy. 1. There are many places that cause you to get up from prone position for no apparent except for bumping an edge of something. You'll get killed several times for this because one minute you are crawling and the next minute are are standing so that everyone can see you.
Summary: the AI is horrible. I leave the teammates behind as long as I can because they kill themselves almost often as they kill an enemy. Dont have them deploy grenades, they'll blow themselves to pieces half the time, or maybe on of them will manage to fall off a cliff! I couldn't believe it, he (Jester) actually fell off a cliff! Also, teammates often get stuck in walls or behind trees or whatever.
Excerpt: "I was recently given this game by a friend who was having a clear out. I am still undecided on the game as there are a lot of both good and bad points about the game which is why I've sat on the fence and gone for the 3 stars! The game is for Playstation 2 and is for players aged 16 and over. You will need 180kb free on your memory card to save this game. The price for this game on Amazon is around £25 including delivery for new and from about ...
Pros: Some good levels
Cons: Graphics and levels are too long without a save point
Summary: this game is very linear. it does this because it wants it's players to lie in wait and stalk their enemies. no save feature. single player greatly hampered by lack of headset. unfortunately with only a four man squad the size of the engagements is quite limited and obstacles are often overcome by simply pouring firepower into the charging enemies. the greatest challenge lies in dealing with CQB and the dualshock controller.
