PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: SOCOM developers, Zipper Interactive, have already expanded greatly upon the original game with SOCOM II, but with SOCOM III they have done a real solid job of overhauling the overall experience of the series' original concept of giving gamers a real SEAL experience. Taking into perspective what supporters of the series truly want, Zipper has gone back, renovated and expanded just about every aspect of the game.

GameSpot
12 October 2005
  • Summary: SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs makes some significant strides over its predecessors, offering 32-player online play, drivable vehicles, much larger maps, and a worthwhile single-player campaign.
  • Pros: Smooth 32-player online play, Vehicles that are fun and easy to use, Worthwhile but brief single-player campaign, Presentation values
  • Cons: AI nothing to write home about, Jerks in the online community

  • Excerpt: Okay, I’ll admit something right now that I haven’t said to some of my gaming friends: I have a love/hate relationship with the SOCOM franchise. Personally, I love the tactical strategy and the realism of the series, but I can’t stand the stupidity that friendly and enemy AI exhibits.

SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALS

Gamecell
19 October 2007
  • Conclusion: To sum up, SOCOM III has improved in almost every way; huge maps, more players online, vehicles, swimming, weapon customisation, a great single-player mode… I could could go on for a while but I won’t, there’s an online deathmatch with my name on it. All I can say is that the graphics really do fall way below the great level of quality the rest of the game was created with, and that’s what stops this otherwise brilliant game from getting the top marks.
  • Pros: Big maps, Bigger and better online, Great single-player, Gun customisation
  • Cons: Really poo graphics, Glitches everywhere!
