  • Summary: I've had loads of hours playing this with my son. It's an old game now but hey, its tennis and the game never changes. Nice graphics and a great choice of tennis courts around the world. The computer models of the players are alike and the game response it good. I would recommend you go for a later version if you can. But this one is okay to buy if you must. After all, I am still using mine!!!

Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2 (PS2): Rival to Top Spin?

bbjaylive, Dooyoo

  • Summary: After playing Virtua Tennis on the PC for a few years, when I got a PS2 I wanted more of a simulation tennis video game to play. I was tired of playing ping-pong at the net, diving all over the place and somehow make a passing shot from the dives on HARD court and of course, the rarity of the "out" or "net" call. I had seen good reviews for Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2 (uneccessarily long name I know), so I decided it was worth a try.
  • Pros: Turning points, Customizable features
  • Cons: Gameplay is quite unvaried

The best tennis game of its time

cricketfan1, Dooyoo
27 August 2008
  • Summary: Brilliant game with super graphics for the console! The game unfortunatly lacks many top players such as andrew murray and Roger Federer, but it does contain a good selection of players! The career mode is very addictive and allows you to train and work your way up the tennis ranks which really makes you feel like you have acheived something.
  • Pros: super gameplay and graphics
  • Cons: some players missing

Second serve ace, or just a double fault?

  • Excerpt: "I can't remember where or why i bought this., but I do know why i keep playing it. It's a nice tennis game, the best for the playstation by a mile. It looks very crisp and simple to use, although the japanese music and sound effects on the menu screen are very irritable. There are several game modes, arcade where you can enter a tournament with a partner or by yourself; exhibition where you play a single match; tutorial pretty good place ...
  • Pros: Quick, easy to play

Smash Court Tennis: Pro Tournament 2 - an ACE game

mkkreuk, Ciao
5 August 2007
  • Excerpt: "...have three tennis games, and Smash Court Tennis: Pro Tournament 2 is by far and away my favourite. I really am quite addicted to it! By now, the game is quite old, but this is no problem at all, except for the fact that the players are a bit “past it”. You can still play as Tim Henman, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Richard Gasquet, James Blake, Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams amongst others. You can also create a 2 players (one man, one woman) in the ...
  • Pros: Nice and simple, with a good gameplay system .  Very enjoyable .
  • Cons: Can get a bit too easy/repeptitive

A rival for the Virtua Tennis series?

  • Excerpt: "Smash court tennis 2 may be nearly 3 years old now, but its still got potential to be one of the best Tennis sims on the PS2. The first outing saw a brave attempt at trying to capture new fans for the sport and succeeded on various level, but its smash court 2 that really improves where other games lay dead and unheard of. The controls are much more fluid and life life and you can now really get into the match as you smash, volley or lob your way ...

Spot on gameplay and just pure fun

  • Summary: Really good fun, with very realistic gameplay. If you play tennis then the timing and positioning are here just as important to hit that killer shot although the beginner will also be able to hoik it over the net without to much hassle. The musak is awfull but you can turn it off, I could not find anyway of turning off the between point flyby's of the crowd and players. You can get rid of these just by pressing X at the time though.

Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2 (PS2): Game, Set and Match.

amandarhino, Dooyoo
6 August 2006
  • Summary: You can do various things on this game. My favourite one is the pro tour where you can create you own player, either male or female, you can choose their name and nationality, thewre height and weight, plus what abilities they have. You are then able to play in various tournaments throughout the world including the four grand slams. The overall aim of this section is to get to the number one ranking and you start off at number 250.
  • Pros: Its fairly easy to play and you can play at all the major grand slams.
  • Cons: features dated players.
