  • Excerpt: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus is 3D platforming with a dash of stealth, shooting, and racing thrown in to sweeten the mixture. One of the secrets to Sly Cooper’s success is that it never loses sight of its objective: to be a platformer. It never varies from that course while tossing in innovation.

  • Excerpt: One of the simplest ways to have a game dubbed as "innovative" is to mix genres. Such is the case with Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus from Sony , developed by Sucker Punch . It's part action/slinker, part platforming berry-picker; a good blend that is sure to invite fans of both play-styles (Metal Gear Mario, anyone?).

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus

Project COE
24 September 2002
  • Conclusion: Sly Cooper takes some very standard core elements of the action/adventure genre, but it takes them to a new level. Infused with personality, flare, and lush environments, Sly Cooper is sure to please nearly any gamer. The only two major problems that were present were the slow down and the lack of convincing background music. This title more than makes up for these faults with wonderful unlockables. However, the title is a bit hampered by its relatively short play time.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Review

GameSpot
20 September 2002
  • Summary: The game's relative ease combined with a very short length prevents Sly Cooper from becoming the next big platformer. But it's great while it lasts.
  • Pros: N/A
