Silent Scope 2: Dark Silhouette (PS2)
4 July 2013
Excerpt: I\'ve always found shooters, especially first person shooters, enjoyable, mainly because they can squeeze more emotion out of you. This game doesn\'t do that. Maybe it\'s because you play the majority of the game behind a sniper scope, or, as the game so aptly calls it, a silent scope. I don\'t think there is reason for the killing of the armed guards in this game, besides the fact that they are in the way.
Excerpt: The Silent Scope series has proved itself to be one of the most popular arcade games in the country, but can an in home translation do as well? Konami hopes so, but without the rifle/scope peripheral it could end up being a shot in the dark. Graphically, Silent Scope 2 is almost a carbon copy of the arcade version. While the arcade version seemed amazing compared to other cabinet games of it's time, I expect more from the PS2.
Excerpt: No matter how convenient home video game systems are, they still pale in comparison to live arcade experiences. Whether you’re getting behind the wheel of a makeshift Formula One racing car or lacing up your dancing shoes and stepping up to a dance pad, there are certain tangibles that consoles simply can’t reproduce as effectively. Silent Scope 2: Dark Silhouette is one such game, ported from the arcade to the PlayStation 2 by Konami minus the sniper rifle.
Excerpt: I admit it. Last year when I reviewed Silent Scope, I went extremely easy on it by awarding it a 6.7. Sure it's not exactly an "award," but still a 6.7 was 'too' high of a grade for a game as lackluster as Silent Scope. I played the arcade game once, maybe twice, and found it to be a great title, and when I heard Konami would be axing the scope support from the game, I instantly imagined myself playing Silent Scope in the arcades with a fighter joystick and 3 buttons.
Excerpt: Silent Scope 2: Dark Silhouette is the sequel to the arcade hit, Silent Scope. The story begins in the United Kingdom, where yet another terrorist group is going to carry out an attack on an unsuspecting city. Your role as a member of a peacekeeping agency is to track down the enemy and make them pay. Sound easy? It sure is--as long as you have a gun.
