Test Silent Hill Shattered Memories

Generation NT
29 April 2010

Test Silent Hill : Shattered Memories PS2

Generation NT
29 April 2010

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Project COE
10 July 2009
  • Conclusion: By now, we're all familiar with ports, remakes, franchise reboots, and all sorts of other ways that publishers quickly "cash in". If it helps them fund new next-gen projects, I don't exactly complain, but it's always preferred to see a fresh idea. Ironically enough, Shattered Memories is exactly that. It's not even close to a port; the term "remake" isn't justified, and "franchise reboot" doesn't entirely apply to a series that didn't inherently need it.

Review: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

The Review Crew
6 March 2011
  • Summary: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is kind of a dilemma. This is a reboot of a franchise that is known for its grotesque enemy design and true horror storyline, but there is none of that here. The watered-down plot and vanilla characters don’t inspire much pathos but somehow inspire you to continue your search for your daughter. There is a nice Hitchcock twist at the end which we won’t spoil that almost makes it all worth it, but that’s a big almost.
  • Pros: Excellent Wiimote implementation, really draws you into the game, Contextual situations that make you think in 3D, Well done animations and voice work, Different story every time
  • Cons: Some beautiful, some messy graphics, Light story but tackles some heavy themes, Nightmare sequences can be frustrating and annoying, Not what fans of the series will expect from a new Silent Hill game
