Summary: Silent Hill 3 is probably one of the scariest survival horror video games ever made! Much more scary then any Resident Evil game or any other. You play as Heather Mason (yes, daughter of none other then Harry Mason from Silent Hill 1) SH3 seems inspired not only by the movie Jacob's Ladder but also by Hellraiser and even Resident Evil to a certain extent as well as almost any David Lynch film (think Eraserhead, for example.
Summary: I love the Silent Hill franchise, more than almost anything! but sadly my copy of SH3 broke and wouldn't play after the hospital area so I went out of my way to buy this near brand new copy of it for only $17. Came with the case, manual, and disc. It looked (and smelled) brand new! Game plays great. Loads quickly, and no skipping/freezing or any of the sort. Great game, great condition, and great price!
Summary: A great addition to the Silent Hill series. Graphics are lovely, sound is amazing, story is intriguing, and gameplay has been improved. Has many thrilling moments. The game has great replay value (alternate costumes, weapons, endings, and difficulties) that will keep you coming back for more. However, the game is much tougher than Silent Hill 1 or 2, but not too hard. Overall, a great game. Must-buy in my opinion.
Summary: This is my favorite Silent Hill title by far. The storyline- which is connected to the first game- is compelling and the actual gameplay isn't half bad either. When played on normal setting SH3 is not a particularly challenging game. Like other SH games, bosses are kind of a joke. If this bothers you, crank up the difficulty and play it through. It's worth replaying at least once for the silly extras. The graphics are impressive for a PS2 game at the time of its release.
Summary: I believe that reviews should complete the task they were created for, reviewing something. All games should be reviewed, not compared across a blurry line of how it matches up to a game completely different than it. Silent Hill, unlike alot of games, gives purpose to everything that takes place in its games. Such as its monsters, ever since the first game every monster has had a hidden, underlying message to each of them.
Summary: I have played all of the Silent Hill games, and this one is probably the most impressive. This particular title has very key unique features like really good (for 2003 any how) graphics, an automatic weapon, actually really fun puzzles . . . not to mention the remarkable replay value (and all the bitchin game features you unlock). It really takes advantage of all the PS2's great graphics and interactive complexities.
For a 3rd installment you think it be watered down..

Summary: But nope the spooky aptmosphere, thrills, chills, and blood spills are all here. This one revisiting the original story of Silent Hill. You take the role of Heather your typical sarcastic hormonal teenage girl. Unfortunately Heather's past is about to come back to greet her. Silent Hill 3 is just as good as the last Silent Hill 2. It's graphics are amazing and just as shocking as Silent Hill 2 was. Extremely well designed and very realistic.
Summary: And I don't think I could have picked a better one to start with. I started off quite irritated at the control scheme, but after getting used to it the game gets much better. The puzzles are generally smart and varied and have three difficulty settings you can choose from (easy, normal, and hard--hard sometimes taking exceptional amounts of thinking on your part or ousdie knowledge of things like Shakespeare's works).
Summary: Silent Hill 3 is where the amount of fear REALLY goes up a few notches. Encountering a monster in this game will probably scare the crap out of you, thanks to the graphics being a big improvement this time around. The music isn't quite as good as the original Silent Hill, but in this case, the music doesn't really hurt the gameplay at all. You will be scared regardless of what tune happens to be playing. The sound effects alone can make you afraid.
