Silent Hill 3 PS2 Review

Console Obsession
31 May 2010
  • Excerpt: The Japanese definitely know how to scare us when it comes to horror and there’s nothing more telling on this subject then Konami’s perverse Silent Hill series. Set in a universe where nothing is ever as it seems and tormented characters wander, the series has fast become one of the best horror legacies on the shelves. The third game in the series places us into a familiar playing environment but with a few notable changes.

Silent Hill 3

Deaf Gamers
17 December 2004
  • Conclusion: PC ports of console games often get a bad press but Konami have done a superb job. With the screen resolution and rendering resolution turned up it is far superior, visually, to the original PlayStation 2 version.

Silent Hill 3

Playstation Illustrated
9 January 2004
  • Excerpt: If you played Silent Hill 2 on the PS2 a couple of years back, then you know what to expect from Silent Hill 3 . Dark, gloomy areas, sometimes only visible by flashlight, fog-shrouded environs, and lots and lots of blood are what you'll find here. The characters are very well rendered and the enemies are as nasty and creepy as they ever were. This is one of those games that will have you screaming in your seat as things jump out at you. It's good stuff.

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: I've always enjoyed Capcom's Resident Evil games. The experience of playing them is very similar to watching an over-the-top horror movie - potentially some great fun, but it won't leave a lasting impression on you. However, back in 1999, Konami released a game for those of us who prefer the kind of grueling psychological horror found in classic movies such as The Shining.

Silence is Golden

GIN
18 August 2003
  • Excerpt: There are not too many games that really give me a good scare. Silent Hill 3 is one of the best I've encountered. I have always enjoyed the Silent Hill series because it relies on both actual things to scare you, like monsters jumping out of the bushes at the right moments, and also more imperceptible means, like a far-off noise or the odd setup of a room. It keeps you on edge even when you are in a completely safe environment within the game.
