Shrek 2

Into Liquid Sky
14 September 2005
  • Excerpt: When it comes to videogames, movie tie-ins are a dime a dozen. They're generally like the rest of the marketing swag that gets brought out to the stores - a flash-in-the-pan that takes the 15 minutes of fame to garner sales, only to have the excess gather dust in the discount bin for years to come. So, when a game based on the sequel to the animated "fairy tale" that was Shrek comes out, one has to wonder if it's even worth the time or effort.
  • Pros: Good use of a license, Hero Time breaks up the main game with minigames, You can play with up to four people
  • Cons: Graphics have some rough edges, Camera and A.I. issues in certain instances, More for the casual or younger market

Beat-'em-up game lacks movie's wit.

Common Sense Media
17 June 2005
  • Summary: Parents need to know that while this is an "E"-rated game, it still employs a lot of beat-'em-up action. Players karate-chop or punch cute-looking animals, peasants, rats, Merry Men, knights and a host of other "baddies." While the movie had very few fight scenes and lots of clever humor, the video game reverses that trend by providing lots of fight scenes and very little clever humor.

  • Excerpt: Shrek 2 is Activision’s jump into the platforming genre. The first Shrek title, exclusive to the Xbox, was a failed attempted at fun. This review will determine whether the latest attempt in the Shrek series will succeed in giving gamers a good time.

Shrek 2

Playstation Illustrated
30 April 2005
  • Excerpt: Movie licensed games have been caught in a strange shift lately. In the past, whenever a movie tie-in was released, it was a pretty safe bet that the game would quickly find itself at the bottom of the bargain bin. In recent years this trend has been changing with games such as EA's Lord of the Rings games or the recently released Riddick .

  • Pros: detaillierte Umgebungen, stimmige Soundkulisse, viele Minispiele, grandiose MultiplayerAction
