Shinobi

Fragland
27 May 2012
  • Excerpt: Where’s the time little Asqwanka wanted to become a ninja ? A ninja has a super cool look, stays relax in every situation, bursts with cool one-liners, can demonstrate his fighting skills in the most fantastic ways and usually has a beautiful babe by his side.

  • Excerpt: As I sat down to play and review Sega’s latest retro-update, Shinobi , I was interrupted by the noise of my morning post being pushed through the letterbox. Alongside the usual array of ‘You are a winner!’ and ‘Dodgy-Loan Co. Can Save Your Life!

  • Excerpt: Shinobi or followers of the way of Nin are a mysterious bunch. Nin comes from the Japanese language as two words literally meaning "blade" and "heart." That’s rather fitting for Sega’s Shinobi videogames. The hero Musashi was not only a master of the blade, but possessed supernatural abilities.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Shinobi is short, it's hard, it's frustrating and it's not that pretty. It also oozes style, is fun to play and features a handful of worthwhile unlockable extras. Personal mileage will vary based upon your level of patience.

Shinobi

The Next Level
24 January 2003
  • Excerpt: So what do you get when Overworks decides to revive the Shinobi lifeblood on the PS2? A scarf-wearing, sleek-looking, all-around master of ninjas is what. If stealth were an aesthetic, Overworks would have it nailed. Too bad they forgot to make it as fun as it looks.

Shinobi review (PS2)

HonestGamers
15 January 2003
  • Excerpt: Introduction: There are very few 3D games being released these days which skip all the fancy stuff we don't really need, and go straight for the simplistic, more abbreviated gameplay approach, reminiscent of old 2D classics, which most games are in desperately short supply of.

  • Summary: At first glance, Sega’s new Shinobi doesn’t resemble the games of its namesake. It looks like all the other 3D ninja games of late, be it Tenchu or the upcoming Ninja Gaiden. But there’s something different about this Shinobi, something that sets it apart.

Shinobi

Gamecell
11 March 2004
  • Conclusion: Overall, Shinobi is a very good game, and it's what I've been waiting for all this time, but it's nowhere near perfect, or at least from what I've seen from playing it so far. It's worth the money, but try and shop around to buy it cheaply; I got my copy for £25 compared to the £39.99 some shops...
  • Pros: It's a Ninja game., Very fast and stylish., Replay value to increase your score and collect secrets.
  • Cons: Disparity in difficulties., Length of levels., Feels like it's missing a few things.
