Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3

ztgd.com
22 January 2011
  • Excerpt: No spikey haired hero? No androgynous main character? No crystals to retrieve?
  • Pros: + It’s Shin Megami Tensei, and doesn’t disappoint, + The Social Links System, + Original Story, + Original Presentation, and for an RPG that’s saying something, + Musical Score
  • Cons: Couldn’t find any here folks. I could say the Tartarus is a bit Blah, but that’s just being Nit Picky.

Knocking on Heaven's Door

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: When Persona 3 was originally announced in Japan, the game was looking very interesting and seemed to have a terrific style to it. When the game was announced for North America, it was expected that Atlus would add the Shin Megami Tensei supertitle, though the sound of the game's difficulty left a bad feeling. It didn't take long to warm up to the game's atmosphere and before long the game was spinning in the PlayStation 2.

The Burden of Responsibility

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: The Shin Megami Tensei games have always focused on the concept of choice, allowing the player to choose between several unique paths based on the philosophy the player wishes to follow.

Persona 3 Adds Up

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: One of the most unique and difficult to describe RPGs of the last few years is Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 . The idea of a high school life simulation mixed with dungeon crawling combat may be more than some people can fathom, but the end result is an addictive, solid PlayStation 2 RPG.

The Game of Life - Now With Demons!

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: What was going through the minds of the designers as they imagined Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 can only be speculated upon, but the results cannot be argued with. The combination of a traditional dungeon-crawler RPG with a dating simulator is probably the most bizarre genre cross-over in existence, and yet it works exceedingly well on almost every level.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES

Gaming Evolution
8 July 2008
  • Conclusion: Not all is perfect, however. Like in most RPGs with a silent protagonist, the player cha-racter is largely devoid of any personality. Interacting with friends never feels organic, and at times comes off more like you’re manipulating your friends than really having a relationship with them.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3

Playstation Illustrated
6 July 2008
  • Excerpt: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 is one of the best RPGs to hit the PS2 this year. There, I've said it and now I suppose I have to back it up... I have always enjoyed the Shin Megami Tensei series' visuals, and though Persona 3 doesn't quite meet the look of Digital Devil Saga (my favorite in the series), it still looks great. Story sequences are a combination of hand-drawn animated sequences and in-game visuals.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES

Playstation Illustrated
6 July 2008
  • Excerpt: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES is a hybrid "Director's Cut"/ Expansion for Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 , one of last year's better, yet criminally overlooked RPGs. Persona 3 FES features two episodes, a pumped-up version of Persona 3 and a brand-new, 30-hour "real ending" that follows the exploits of Aigis, one of the characters from the original game. Persona 3 FES carries through with the same great presentation as the original.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 – Second Opinion

GameCritics.com
3 July 2008
  • Excerpt: As a reviewer who thinks most RPGs are too long these days, I was a little surprised to find that I sank close to 100 hours into Persona 3 , and felt like nearly every minute of it was worthwhile and interesting. Don't get me wrong-I've always had great respect for the Persona series. In fact, Persona 2 ranks as one of the greatest RPGs in the history of the genre for me, and I had a hard time imagining how such an incredible title could be followed.
