Summary: I'm on my second playthough of the game seeking the alternate "good" ending, completing all side quests, and obtaining ultimate weapons and armor. The story is fun (albeit dark) but the game system has two anoyances: First, spinning ring battle system is a nuisance because it distracts from the storyline. Second, there's way too much dialogue even for an RPG. More fighting and battles to level up characters would have been preferable.
Summary: This game is my childhood all in one. So much nostalgia from mddle and high schoo.... That said, the game play/battling is... well... tedious. But it's an RPG from the 2000s era, what can one expect? Plot is still enjoyable and there's a lot of quirky humor. I mean, come on folks. Alice BEATS people with a Bible. What is there to complain about? ;) Sadly the 3rd Shadow Hearts and beyond were awful, but this is still an RPG classic!
Summary: As far as RPGs for the PS2 this one is an all time favorite of mine. Even if the graphics are not nearly as good as today's new systems, the whole experience is none the less worth it. The storyline is dark, the characters mysterious yet humorous, plenty of good ol' fashioned blood and butt kicking, and the music score is amazing as well.
Summary: I just finished "Shadow Hearts" last night. It was one of the best games I've ever played. I spent about 40 hours beating it, although there were some side quests I skipped, which I will do when I play it again in the future. This is a dark-themed game, but more in a thought-provoking way as opposed to physical gore. It does have some moments of humor, too.
Summary: This is by far the best in the complete series, some people can debate that the second one is better, because of more added sidequests and such. Koudelka is the first installment in this series, but not many people know about it, however the combat system in it is completely different, anyways back to Shadowhearts.
Summary: This game is amazing. Controls are easy. Battle system is easy. Love the Story. Goes deep into the story. Theres 2 different endings. Beat the game 2 times. Love both Ending. The play of it was just awesome. Great voice acting.Great Graphics for PS2. I still have this game. I play it for my PS3. Love everything about this. Characters were great.
Summary: I actually played SH Covenant first so I was super excited to get the back story. I had no idea Yuri was such a perv in the first game :o! However, I loved getting to know all of the characters. I like the game play but I am so glad they improved upon certain things for SH Covenant, like the discounts for shopping, the graphics (BIG improvement) and the ring customization. Overall, an awesome game to get you interested in an awesome group of characters!
Summary: Unlike many who played the sequels, I had the advantage of playing this game first and it is still one of my top two games to this day. The second game was marginally disappointing, but the third was utterly ridiculous when compared to what I loved about this one. I look forward to eventually played this game's sort-of prequel, 'Koudelka', although I know that it will, also, not compare. If you like the later games, by all means, you're welcome to them.
Summary: This is a fun and unique RPG for anyone looking for a good story, fun game play, and interesting characters. For people who like RPGs, you should least give this game a try. With the unique Judgment ring which I've only ever seen in this game and its sequels (ignore shadow hearts 3 it SUCKS!!), keeps you on your toes and interested in the combat going on.
