Excerpt: On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, was assassinated by Slavic anarchists, beginning the First World War. As the war begins, the Imperial German Army sends one of its officers, Karin Koenig, to the French village Domremy, where a monster is rumored to live. Indeed, a monster does dwell here, slaughtering Karin's patrol, although she survives and sees it revert to human form.
Summary: This game had me enthralled from the very beginning. I had been a fan of the series since I stumbled on the first title by accident, and this game did not disappoint me at all. The story line flowed perfectly from the first game to 'Covenant', allowing for a fluid transfer between the two. The reappearance of some of the original characters is balanced by new skills and new characters.
Pros: Engaging story, Epic boss fights, Addictive gameplay, Innovative concepts, Just plain fun
Summary: Finally, an original, innovative RPG. Shadow Hearts Covenant draws you in quickly, and carries you through a vast world that gets more complex and intriguing. SHC has plenty of side quests but they aren't mandatory to beat the game like so many RPGs, you don't have to 'level up' either which for me, was a huge plus. The battle system is unique but i believe adds to the game. Graphics are fantastic. Buy this game if you even remotely enjoy RPG's.
Summary: Yep, you read my title correctly. Great game. Great story. In a time where game designers are making massive games with no story or characters that you care about at all, this is an exception. I enjoyed this almost as much as I enjoyed FFVII, and in some ways even more so.
Summary: The only game apart from FFX that I just cant stop playing. Absorbing plot, great game play, mini games that require some effort, multiple endings depending on how you complete certain parts of the game - yep its a great game!
Summary: Nowadays, most of games simply focus on graphics rather than gameplay and storyline which in my opinion is the most important aspect for a good game. Shadow Hearts: Convenant, in my opinion, has everything. Fantasic storyline where the story is evolved under the historical background of WW1. Very clever! I dare say this game is better than Final Fantasy! I haven't enojoyed a game like this one for many years now. Simply Great!
Summary: Nowadays some RPGs tend to focus on graphics as oppose to gameplay and storyline. Looking at past RPGs that were successful we see that these are two vital components. Gladly SH Covenant doesn't fall down in either department. The storyline is great and even makes a point of explaining what happened in the previous installment just in case you missed it. The battles are Exciting, the characters are likeable and the storyline is brilliant.
Summary: I have played almost every RPG game for Playstation 2 and, believe me, this was one of the best! I could even dare to say that it is as good as the final fantasy games are! The graphics are perfect, the battle system quite interesting and the plot amazing! I had to spend almost 50 hours to finish this game (including the time spent on sidequests) but it was worth it!
Summary: I enjoyed Shadow Hearts, despite mixed reviews, because of its storyline, its sense of humour and its quirky characters. So, when I finished it and was intrigued by the ending I decided to buy Shadow Hearts: Covenant to see what happened next to Yuri. Shadow Hearts: Covenant is a gaming experience that rivals the very best that the Final Fantasy series has to offer.
