Disappointed with this one!
5 June 2004
Summary: What a disappointment this game turned out to be. I have read various reviews in various magazines and formed the opinion that serious Sam next encounter would be alright. Some magazines rated it 4 out of 10 while others went as far as to give this game 7 out of 10. The reality is, I would score this game about 2.5 out of 10. Sam is very limited in what he can do, it really is all about shooting and little else. The graphics are among the lowest quality I have seen.
Summary: Serious Sam Next Encounter is repetitive to the point of leaving you thinking why bother. I would not describe the game as fun as such. There is no tension, no real thought required on the part of the player. It all comes down to shooting various creatures, standing you're ground until it is possible to advance forward, then you're find you're back in the same position of holding you're ground shooting more creatures. It wears thin very quickly, too quickly.
Summary: What a bad game. It's useless I can tell you now, And how on earth anyone can give this 5 stars is beyond a joke, Nothing I have played in recent times is as poor as Serious Sam. Kontrols are not good, visuals are not good, sound is not good, game plays is not good, game is not good, poor, poor, poor. Don't waste you're money, do something better with it.
Summary: If you like games with god awful graphics, then buy this. The PS2 was not built for this. Sony doesn't need this running on their hardware. As much as I don't want to bring myself to say it, the Xbox version is so much better, it really is.
Summary: Serious Sam may have made a name for it's self on the PC about 10 Million year ago, it's now 2004, things have moved on a little. Serious Sam Next Encounter is a useless game. What is the point of listing all of its faults when there are so many?
Summary: I cannot believe someone gave Serious Sam Next Encounter 5 stars - it is a dreadful game. The levels maybe huge, they are huge and bland with it and where are all the enemies to shoot - hiding somewhere? - On the PC version there appears to be at times 30 to 40 creatures charging at you all at once, on this the PS2 version there appears to about 8 creatures charging at you at any one time, it really is a very poor interpretation of the PC version.
Summary: My oh my, what a terrible excuse for a game. I honestly cannot think of a single positive thing to write about such a poor example of supposedly entertainment software. There's nothing entertaining about it? Play Serious Sam for about 5 minutes and you'll be left wondering, is this it? the game really s mind numbingly boring. The sound is below average and the graphics, well the less said about those the better. The game looks so out of date, it's unreal.
Summary: As a huge fan of Serious Sam for the PC, and the XBOX, I was expecting this to be the all out best sequel! But this really is dissapointing in every catagory. The graphics are not poor, but not good either, but nothing even close to the XBOX version. The sound has alot of samples from the first two "encounters", the new gun fire sound effects are extremely poor, with the exception of the double-barrel shotgun.
