rumble racing review

falconpunch73 , GameStop
29 December 2008
  • Summary: Rumble Racing is the sequal to NASCAR Rumble on the PS1. nascar rumble was an arcade/ combat racing game were you could be your favorite NASCAR driver and race on the open road rather than an oval. this time around, they took away the nascar. the same control engine still is used. they've also added a trick engine, so when you go of a jump, you can flip your car around. graphics: the graphics are solid. they run smoothly and the frame rate always keeps up.

Not bad

SleepyJD, Amazon
30 March 2003
  • Summary: A pretty interesting arcade style racer with good crashes and nice speeds. If you are a racing fan and have money and you don't know how to spend it, consider spending it on this.

Great game for a great price.

Sean C. Patton, Amazon
26 October 2001
  • Summary: If you are looking at this game right now you know that it has come down 20 dollars in price. Let me tell you paying 29.95 for this game is worth it. The game play is very addicting, fast paced, and it being a ps2 game has fairly fast load times. The tracks are all fairly original, while a few may seem familiar to other tracks. Finding the shortcuts in each track is fun, and a must to do because the faster the cars go the smarter the AI gets.

Annoying Commentary

David Maund, Amazon
29 May 2001
  • Summary: When you first play Rumble Racing, you will notice that only half the game is available to you. To unlock the meatier cars and tracks, you will have to finish the championships. Doing this can be very frustrating, as the oppenents a.i is excelllent. This means that you will be doing the same race for ages, not good. There is also one other tiny flaw within the game, and that is the most incredibly annoying commentator in history.

4 1/2 stars actually

C. Murua "silent_warrior_", Amazon
12 May 2001
  • Summary: I rate this 4 1/2 stars..this game is just great. The graphics run at 60 frames per second..with no slowdown whatsoever. No pop up either. Seems like this game is anti-slowdown. But the graphics have some jaggies..kind of like Ridge Racer V. And th ey're a little cartoony. The sound and controls are great..although you can't customize them. You can pull off crazy tricks...it's really cool. You also get a good sense of speed..unlike midnight club..that runs at 30 frames.

A showcase racing title for the playstation 2......

Robert L., Amazon
28 April 2001
  • Summary: EA is off and running with the playstation 2, their latest effort is on the verge of being a must have the sony's new system. First, the graphics, though not jaw-dropping, are solid and the framerate is more than adequate to keep up with the hectic on screen action. The backgrounds are fair to good, anything more probably would have resulted in slowdown.

Rumble Racing is a real hidden gem of a game.

Dragonlord, amazon.co.uk
28 May 2009
  • Summary: Rumble Racing mixes three games into one and is a really exciting fun racing game. You have got shortcuts and stunts\tricks that give you a boost of speed like in SSX Tricky. There are lots of different great weapons that you collect, one being a tornado which is similar to Mario Kart. The handling of the cars are very much like Need For Speed. There are lots of cars that you unlock as you progress through the game.

NOT for motor geeks

M. D. Smart, amazon.co.uk
14 July 2002
  • Summary: If your idea of heaven is tinkering with your engine in GT3 then you'll HATE this game, but for pure and simple racing action, it does the job nicely. Everything looks very smooth, and the handling is suitably arcadey. The addition of power-ups mean this has more in common with kart racers than traditional driving games, with plenty of special effects to direct at your opponents including the spectacular Tornado which sees the skies cloud over and all the cars but yours...

User Review

thehulk, Dooyoo
18 October 2001
  • Excerpt: Rumble Racing is one of the best-polished driving games around. It isn?t a simple case of driving around in an old banger and coming in at first place. There is far more than this. You could say that this was a driving version of EA?s snowboard classic SSX. Whereby you earn boosts and points for pulling off tricks. This may seem tricky within a car but wait ?til you try it out. Better than all of this you get WEAPONS on your car.
