Excerpt: Rugby 08 comes to us at a time when most Americans' minds are on NCAA Football or Madden NFL. Rugby may be the sport that inspired football, but in the case of videogames it's the football games that are more inspired. Does Rugby 08 offer enough to get gamers to put Madden on the shelf for a little while? Probably not… Rugby 08 is smart in that it knows that most Americans are probably not all that familiar with the sport.
Excerpt: Rugby is one of the most brutal and punishing sports on earth - it's very much like football only without the padding - so the concept seems perfect for a video game. From scrums to diving tackles to all-out hectic team running, there's always something happening; hence, the action rarely falters.
Excerpt: Carry the Dreams of a Nation…and an egg-shaped Ball Rugby: A game played by hard men with odd-shaped balls! I am not sure that is the definition of the sport that appears in the Oxford dictionary, but it sure makes a good intro to a video games review. Rugby seems to be a sport that is not particularly high on the list of priorities for EA.
Pros: Easy to pick up and play, fully liciened Rugby World Cup 2007, Sweet Line-outs.
Cons: No online Multiplyer, similar to Rugby 06,passing not always instant.
Excerpt: Rugby games have something of a torrid time. Unlike their spherical shaped counter part, they don’t have the time, attention and money lavished on them that comes from being a multi-million seller franchise. Thankfully then, rugby is seeing something of a renaissance in Europe (well in the UK at least), something that is enhanced by the upcoming World Cup in September this year.
