Rogue Galaxy

Playstation Illustrated
27 January 2008
  • Excerpt: Rogue Galaxy is both a technical and artistic marvel. The game uses Level 5’s signature cel-shading style to produce a game that is as close to a cartoon as is possible on the PS2. Character designs are original and a bit quirky, but at the same time, everything feels grounded in some sort of reality.

Rogue Galaxy

The Gamers Temple
21 December 2007
  • Excerpt: A young orphan on a desert planet at the fringes of a galactic empire joins a motley crew of rebels and outlaws and soon finds himself traveling the galaxy and taking on the empire itself. • Conclusion: The superb cell-shaded graphics enchant when coupled with the imaginative, exciting character design and enthralling music, and the classic, tried-and-tested RPG gameplay is almost impossible to get wrong and works fantastically alongside the newer, rarer features that Level 5 have incorporated, like the Revelation Flow, Insector tournaments, weapon fusion, factory ownership and thrilling real-time battles.

Video Game talk
26 February 2007
  • Conclusion: is not a perfect game. The camera can get annoying at times, the combat system gets a tad repetitive, and the systems (Factory and Weapon synthesis) require more trial and error than they really should. Once you get past those minor flaws you'll find a gem of an RPG that is one of the best in its class. The innovative gameplay, the massive galaxy, the graphics, and the audio are some of the most impressive that you'll find on the PlayStation 3.

  • Excerpt: By now, when you hear that Level 5 is developing an all new RPG game, you know to expect something great. The developer went from a newcomer with Dark Cloud, to becoming one of the most important developers for the genre all in one generation. Dark Cloud 2 was an enormous leap over its predecessor, but it was Dragon Quest VIII that cemented Level 5 into the guild of highly respected developers with the likes of Polyphony Digital, Kojima Studios, Nintendo EAD, Incog.

  • Excerpt: After releasing the remarkably successful Dragon Quest VIII in 2005, Level 5 is up to their old tricks again, giving us a tale of galactic proportions.
