Excerpt: Before playing Robotech Invasion, we had never heard of this so-called “space opera.” We went into the game as blind as a bat; and only later researched the nature of the show to make us feel a little less dumb on our gaming subject.
Excerpt: I love Robotech. There's simply no better cartoon. And I love the third and final part of the originally unrelated parts the most; the one that was dubbed "The New Generation" after Carl Macek and Harmony Gold decided to mash the trio of robot yarns together to create Robotech in the first place.
Excerpt: It seems odd that we are just now seeing a large number of games for a cartoon series that was introduced back in 1985. I mean sure, Dragon Ball Z is old, but the U.S. release of the last episodes was still just a few years ago. Robotech has been around for over 20 years!
Excerpt: Robotech Invasion a 1st/3rd shoot em' up boasts an impressive list of features; powered by the Havok engine, contains online gaming powered by Gamespy Arcade and music composed by Jesper Kyd (The Hitman series), But does the game back up it's cleavage…?
Summary: Robotech Invasion is a pretty good first person shooter to waste a few hours on but it's by no means one of the best options available to you on either PS2 or Xbox. If you're a fan of the Robotech television series or you are looking for a decent budget priced first person shooter then you can't...
Excerpt: If you have ever (and I do mean 'ever') played another first-person shooter, you should be able to dive right into Robotech: Invasion. Conclusion: Basically, Robotech: Invasion is an FPS done wrong with few redeeming features. Only worth buying if you have already played almost everything else in the genre that is available or if you are a huge fan of the series and need to own every piece of merchandise that is available.
Conclusion: The sound is only a small thing, but is probably the biggest disappointment in the game for me. The orchestral music from the Robotech series is simply lovely, and has some great tunes which would have made the game feel really like you were playing the cartoon.
Pros: Strong narrative., The great controls, Finally a good Robotech game!
Cons: The awful cyclone handling., Music straight from a basement., The HUD is stupidly intrusive., Dodgy voice acting.
