Excerpt: Rise of the Kasai, despite the decided lack of a Roman numeral after its name, is a sequel to The Mark of Kri. The game opens with the death of the original game’s hero, Rau. What follows is a time-hopping adventure in which you try to unravel the events leading up to Rau’s death in an attempt to change his fate.
Excerpt: Rise of the Kasai is the sequel to 2002’s The Mark of Kri, which garnered attention for its unique combat system and engaging story. Rise follows events both before and after Mark with a narrative structure that jumps around in time. Rau, the hero from the first game, returns along with his sister Tati and two other Raku warriors (Griz and Baumusu) to prevent the Kasai from getting their hands on the Mark of Kri.
Conclusion: There is a lot of replay value, for those that enjoy the game. Sadly not enough players will enjoy the overall experience to go back and play the game as the other characters. There are not enough rewards given to the player for doing so anyway. On top of that there’s virtually no point in getting all the secrets found in each level so it’s doubtful anyone will play the game again, but the option is always there.
