  • Excerpt: Two years ago, I received a spanking copy of the Resident Evil remake through my door. When Resident Evil: Outbreak arrived through my little letterbox today, the memories came flooding back. I remembered how I dreaded the control system, yet had mastered those gushy headshots with aplomb. I remember almost soiling my shorts on occasion and being gleefully dragged through the entire adventure thanks to the excellent story and gorgeously gory cut-scenes.

  • Summary: Resident Evil: Outbreak provides a split-opinion. It's the best Resident Evil title to hit the PlayStation 2 since Code: Veronica X but it still brings about a feeling of half-hearted dedication to it with an awkward and sometimes annoying level of downfalls. Despite only having five levels, the game does have a decent amount of replay value with the scenarios differing depending on your choice of character, and there's a ton of CG movies, still pictures, sound effects,...

  • Excerpt: Born in 1997, Resident Evil earned the respect of gamers the world over when it delivered a genuinely chilling horror story to the PSOne console. It set the survival horror genre alight, and it wasn't long before a plethora of clones and so-called 'Resi-beaters' made themselves known to a zombie-mad audience. Furthermore, Resident Evil itself has been subject to myriad sequels and spin off games.

Violent, gory, scary -- for mature players only.

  • Summary: Parents need to know that this game is designed to be scary and bloody. In fact, it starts with a disclaimer advising that the game contains "explicit violence and gore." While there are some positive elements to the game, such as teamwork and puzzle-solving, this M-rated title is for adults only.

  • Excerpt: To date, the sense of terror and dread permeating the action of the famed survival/horror series has been inadvertently exacerbated by the tactile aggravation of static camera angles and clunky character controls. Not so anymore.

  • Excerpt: The Evil is now online. We have seen 4 incarnations of Resident Evil, 2 side games (RE: Survivor and RE: Dead Aim), and 1 feeble attempt on Gameboy Color (RE: Gaiden). All of these games have told the story of a handful of characters who survived the incident beginning in Raccoon City. In every game, the survivors were in direct contact with the Umbrella Corporation or one of their laboratories. Either way, they all had some connection with the Raccoon PD.
