Summary: I am now the proud owner of a PS#. A little late but whatever. I wanted one of my first purchases,as far as games,to be Redo Dead Redemption, so I bought Red Dead Revolver to play that first and then move on to the PS3. My thought...WTF? Storyline is pretty good but what I had a problem with is the aiming. You go through a tutorial before the game action starts but it's just like hitting boards in Karate class. As Bruce Lee stated, "Boards don't hit back.
Summary: Short Review: Red Dead Revolver has a perfect atmosphere and fantastic soundtrack, but it's lack of checkpoints and brutal difficulty, along with unexciting story and characters don't make it worthwhile. Long Review: Video games are by nature, an industry that thrives on changing and evolving, in response to ever evolving graphics and more powerful hardware and technology.
Summary: I love challenging games, that's what makes them fun for me. But this game is too challenging to be fun. I normally spend way to much time playing anyway but I'm ready to return the game and play something else. The game doesn't give you enough pointers to be successful and pretty much starts out hard. I wouldn't recommend this game unless you are really patient and use to using the analog sticks for movement.
Summary: I am in general very proud of what the boys at Rockstar have accomplished in there carear. The prestigious GTA and Max Payne series are no doubt the greatest in there genre. I have found that Red Dead Revolver falls far from the mark. This is just not an impressive game at all. The graphics are chopy, gameplay is repetative, and the characters are shallow and almost just a formality.
Summary: The game was a lot of fun to play, but can be beat in about 4 to 6 hours of play. This game is worth renting but not worth buying. Once the game is beat it is boring to play. The graphics are good, AI is good, but the story line is to short or to easy. If you think you want this game RENT it first, most likely after renting and beating it you won't want to buy it.
Summary: I didn't expect Red Dead Revolver to be a western version of Grand Theft Auto. But I did expect the game to be much more enjoyable than it was. I'm not a skilled gamer but I was able to complete it in about 10 hours. The game play for the levels is frequently too easy. The showdowns were a neat idea but don't work. They go from being too easy to win (I won the first couple doing them the wrong way) to insanely difficult.
Summary: I really don't like this game. It's just - Plodding, uninspired level followed by Boss Fight - Over and over and over. There is no roaming world, no map, no sense of location; it's just - tedious task after tedious task. And it has you playing a different character almost every level, so you feel no connection with any character or any so-called story. I much preferred Gun.
Summary: Red Dead Revolver is certainly not a bad game, its just not a good western. Some parts of the story are great it actually feels like your taking part in a film but others are just ludicrous. You go from having a serious show down with an outlaw - to fighting an army of tiny clowns! or fighting a circus guy who can disappear! One of the 'boss' type enemies you encounter is massive and charges at you like a bull despite you firing a constant barrage at him.
