Summary: Definitely one of my new favorite shoot 'em ups, unlocking ships and trying them all out is great fun, and the game itself is hellishly difficult, but intensely satisfying with every conquered level.
Summary: It's been quite the ride. From the original arcade series, to console Deltas, to little known Leos, R-Type has a rich history. R-Type Final enters the fight with high expectations. From a glance, this is the R-Type we know and love. We get side scrolling levels, powerups that absorb bullets, and Bydo enemies that are easily recognizable as Bydo. R-Type Final has good consistency with the rest of the series. Where this game really shines is customization.
Summary: R-Type series is a classic SHMUP [Shoot em Up] series that well know for its stunning visuals and great difficulty, R-Type Final does not disappoint. The 2.5-D graphics are beautiful and push the PS2 to it's limits, because of this there is inevitable slow down/slight framerate drops. Use this to your advantage. You can set the difficulty to your choosing.
Summary: Great ps2 game, definitely showcases the ps2's graphical capabilities. The game itself hold true to the R-type series, lots of enemies, a tonne of ships and customization, and crippling difficulty!

Summary: R-Type Final for the PS2 is a classic arcade game brought to the big screen. You get about 100 different ships to side-scroll along in blasting mayhem. First, it's important to make this very clear. This is a SIDE SCROLLER SPACESHIP SHOOTER. This is very old school. If you're the type that hates arcade games, you probably should move on. It is not three D although some of the graphics do their best to give you that feeling.
Summary: I owned almost every game system since Coleco and so played plenty of games but space shooters are my personal favorite. There are not too many great space shooters in the "new" age of PS3, XBox360, or Wii. Let me say that the last space shooter for the PS2, R-Type Final, made a grand exit and remains the best shooter of all time. Hands down! Not even Gradius can come close. The levels are intense and beautiful. The weapons are a eye popping feast!
