Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (PS2 - Import)

Digital Sportspage
22 May 2009
  • Excerpt: “The number 10 turns his back and walks away disconsolately. Number 7 shakes hands with the ref...the TV cuts to the crowd, some of whom are clapping and sobbing at the same time.” No, it’s not another of Man City’s attempts to avoid relegation on the last day of the season, it’s the opening to PES3 (which is how it is entitled in Europe).

  • Excerpt: This was going to always going to be a tough review to write. From the moment two months ago, when I had hit the “Preorder” button on the importer’s website, I was sure that I’d come a cropper when it came to typing up my final opinion of the English product a few months later. And now I’m suffering from a bad case of writer’s block.

Deaf Gamers

  • Conclusion: One of the best football games on the planet finally arrives on the PC. It's not without it's problems mind you and even with the first patch applied there is some mild graphical tearing and an occasional stutter, even with the graphical details and resolution turned down, that needs to be ironed out.

Into Liquid Sky
7 March 2005
  • Excerpt: After Winning Eleven 7 ’s release in Japan a few months back, its first English-language counterpart is finally here for European gamers to enjoy. The highly anticipated Pro Evolution Soccer 3 turns out to be a definite improvement from its predecessors, although a few flaws seem to have affected its production along the way. And take note that PES3 is indeed better than any other soccer game around, and it’s worth a purchase .
  • Pros: Improved graphics, Better gameplay, Replay value, The Master League
  • Cons: Some improvable things were left untouched, Handball, No new camera angles

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: What remains to be said? Despite some niggling flaws, the title is infinitely more enjoyable than its forebears; the gameplay is better than before, as is the presentation, resulting in a title that will keep players enthralled just long enough for the next iteration to arrive.

Thunderbolt Games
17 November 2003
  • Excerpt: Make no mistake; there are many many times in the course of a year when you’ll hear people say ‘you must own this game’. It happened with The Getaway , Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Pro Evolution Soccer 2 , the latter of which was from yours truly. But it’s another year, and the new PES title is out to buy. It’s simple; the best thing since sliced bread, Pro Evolution Soccer 3 kicks ass, and you must own this game.

Reviews: Pro Evolution Soccer 3

Tiscali
22 February 2006
  • Conclusion: The Pro Evo series has always known that real football is about grabbing a 1-0 away win and defending strongly. Back-heel volleys and 5-5 scorelines are best left to inferior competitors. But this time round there are more tricks included, including a great Zidane spin. Crucially though these are hard to execute and so remain satisfying when achieved. The lack of licensed teams - Fulham, but not Southampton!

Pro Evolution Soccer 3 PS2 Review

DarkZero
2 January 2004
  • Conclusion: Pros: Mind blowing gameplay, realistic sound, graphics and commentary. Cons: Not all of the teams, players and leagues have the correct names. The GUI could be a bit better compared with it’s rivals. I’m sure many people, including myself, thought that Pro Evolution Soccer 3 would have very good gameplay but be full off little snags and annoyances, which would keep the balance of power strongly in the grasp of the FIFA series.
