Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
18 April 2006
Excerpt: The environments of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within are outstanding in not only graphical content, but also in design. Since the Prince travels between two different time periods in this second game in the newly revived series, the environments actually undergo heavy change, and it looks amazing. The only problem with this is that it leaves a craving to see more areas, but you end up revisiting the same ones over and over again.
Excerpt: Warrior Within takes place a few years after the conclusion of The Sands of Time. After he returned home to Babylon the Prince soon realized that he was being followed. No matter what he tried he couldn’t shake off his shadow so he finally sought help from an old hermit. The old man revealed to him the full scope of his actions in the prequel: The Prince should have died back in the palace and only the Dagger of Time saved his life.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: If you thought platformers were dead and action games were all looking the same, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within will prove otherwise. It's a breathtaking release that delivers in every category, and definitely warrants a spot in your library. A great weapons system, more mature theme and tweaked gameplay, plus Live for the Xbox version, should vault this game into console stardom. You owe it to yourself as a gamer to snap this up - right now.
Summary: Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is great game despite the shift to a much darker and more combat styled tone. Unfortunately by making this change the developers have turned this into another "action game", albeit a very good one. Still, this is an excellent title overall and one which fans will enjoy.
Summary: Ubisoft liefert mit Warrior Within eine äusserst gelungene und an vielen Stellen Verbesserte Fortsetzung des letztjährigen Prince of Persia ab.
