One of my Favorites

  • Summary: I just reordered this games since I wore out my old one, playing and replaying it. It does what videogames to best (for me) which is that it takes you to an interesting world/worlds with amazing visuals, challenging puzzles, a good story-line, exciting action and characters that you really like. I had a lot of affection for Jenn and her little gargoyle companion, Scree. You can tell a lot of care went into the design and creation of Primal.

An A for effort...but just barely above average

  • Summary: I was torn between giving this game 3 or 4 stars, but in the end I decided it earned a 4...if just barely. This is a beautiful game, with some of the coolest graphics I've seen on the PS2, and I do mean cool. It's not just that they're well done (though they are), but the designers of this game created some really cool worlds to get lost in. I was very impressed by them.

A classic that PS2 owners must have.

Gizmo Logix, Amazon

  • Summary: This is a very unique game made by the creators of the MedEvil series. It is a story about a girl who finds out she is more than what she believes: she is part demon, and she is the only one who can save the world. The two primal forces, order and chaos, must be at a balance in order for our world to remain consistant. Chaos tries to break the balance, giving himself more power. Jen (you) is sent into another realm, the "demon" realm, in order to repair the damage.

Good game!

  • Summary: I told people that I liked Silent Hill 2, GTA: Vice City, Final Fantasy X, and Devil May Cry (the first one!)...and they recommended this game. It's a true to form adventure game. Not necessarily another slasher. You don't have to slash if you don't want to. There's plenty of story (Funny characters and real humor), puzzles, beautiful scenery to keep your mind involved in this game. I give this game 4 out of 5 stars. Recommended.

Such an obscure and underappreciated gem of a game!

  • Summary: Primal is one of those brilliant PlayStation 2 titles that is not as well known as it should be. It was released in 2003 and I have to admit I hadn't even heard of it until about 2010. You play as a 21 year old woman called Jennifer Tate who is taken to a different realm by a friendly gargoyle called Scree. This gargoyle becomes her sidekick as she explores four different realms in order to find out a certain truth and locate her missing boyfriend.

Primal

  • Excerpt: "...the usual solo adventure. Unfortunately Primal fails to live up to this, offering instead a world of empty rooms, uneventful hallways, and long boring paths with only the most rudimentary tasks; opening a heavy gate, pulling a switch, or fighting a trio of monsters. Considering the imaginative pairing offered - a sassy goth girl with demon powers and a wall-climbing gargoyle - the hot potential lost is criminal. Jen is a velvet punker, a night ...
