The first (and best) Onimusha

Lewis Murdoc, Amazon
2 October 2012
  • Summary: I first played Onimusha back when it came out on ps2 in 2001, and man, it was a RUSH back then. Take one of the ps1 Resident Evil games (1,2,3) replace guns with swords and modern day with feudal Japan and out pops a ridiculously good game (and formula). Onimusha is much more action-oriented than the original RE games but preserves the horror and claustrophobia by setting the game in a single mansion (similar to the mansion in RE 1 or the police station in RE 2).

Review – Onimusha Warlords

TrueTallus, videolamer
10 January 2007
  • Conclusion: Hey now Matt, SSX was an undeniably great game and I know there where a couple of others before Onimusha.  The beginning PS2 lineup wasn’t as sucky as it’s often remembered.  Not quite.

Review – Onimusha Warlords

Matt, videolamer
10 January 2007
  • Conclusion: Haha, Ok TrueTallus, I’ll back off. I’ll give you SSX, and I believe Madden was a good game as well, even though I don’t like that stuff. But Onimusha was the BIG game for pS2. It was like Dead Rising for 360. And after seeing the reviews for Wii launch titles, I’m starting to wonder if all launches were like that, where everyone seems too hard on the games.
