Summary: I purchases this game on the PS3 online store based on excellent reviews here and elsewhere. I was very surprised to discover that the game was basically a mediocre side-scrolling brawler with a couple weird elements tacked on (planting, alchemy). The art is very good, but the plot is really a train-wreck that is only entertaining in an MST3K sort of way. Inventory management deserves a special mention for being very cumbersome and taking up an inordinate amount of time.
Summary: Five characters take part in an interwoven tale, often one character will briefly appear as an opponent for a different one. Each role seems at least reasonably compelling, as far as the story itself, although why some of the background actions (like the opening war) are not always clearly or believably explained. Story 6.8/10 Odin Sphere has been widely praised for its "beautiful 2D graphics".
Summary: After playing countless Shin Megami Tensei games, I though, "Hey, Atlus published this, it should be good" and bought it on a whim. After playing this for an hour, it's an complete letdown. You repeat the same attack combo for every enemy, and cast some magic occasionally. The stamina bar is reminiscent of Demon's Souls, one gets punished for button mashing, but it's still a bad game overall.
Summary: While I give this game points for the absolutely beautiful -and unique- graphics, I just can't bear to slug my way through the entire game. Let's take a moment to talk about the game's most distinguished merit: Graphics. Now, just because the graphics are my favourite part of this game doesn't mean that you should expect the most "advanced" visuals. What is great about what you will see is that you probably haven't seen anything quite like it.
Summary: "Odin Sphere" has garnered a LOT of acclaim. Indeed, it's graphical design has made for a unique game, as the colorful 2-D images come to life like no other I (or anyone else, judging by the stellar reviews) have ever seen. The game has a deep story. Unfortunately, it's not very fun to play. Moreover, it is incredibly difficult. Now, difficulty isn't a bad thing in a game, but this one really takes the cake in that regard.
Summary: As an avid RPG gamer I'm always looking for new games to satify my cravings. When it comes to RPGs my two favourite companies are Square (The Final Fantasy series) and Atlus (The Shin Megami Tensei series) so when I saw this game I was sure I was in for a classic...I was wrong. This is one of the few RPGs in my collection I haven't completed and I have no desire or intention to do so. The problem with Odin Sphere is how repetitive it is.
Good, if you like doing the same thing over & over!

Summary: I bought this game while waiting for another to be released because I watched a trailer that looked promising. The game is really well made but the battle system (which is the main focus of the game) is really boring as you just keep fighting the same enemies, in a hack and slash style, in places that look identical over and over as you move between areas. I played it for about 3 hours before I just couldn't take the repetitivness anymore.
