Obscure: The Aftermath

Playstation Illustrated
15 May 2006
  • Excerpt: When Obscure: The Aftermath came in, it took me a few minutes to remember its predecessor, so I guess it was aptly named. But when I did, I pulled up the review and was surprised at the score, I remembered liking it a bit less than the score would imply, but how did this sequel pan out? Visually, the game isn't bad at all, especially seeing as it is on the only previous-gen system that is still going strong.

Obscure

Playstation Illustrated
15 May 2006
  • Excerpt: Being a fan of the horror movie genre, Obscure seemed like a game right up my dark, dank alley, especially when you consider its tag-line of “the first action game created in the style of teen-horror movies.” Unfortunately, this odd blend of survival horror and adventure genres left a few things to be desired. But I’ll get to those parts later, because one of the departments this game did not lack in was visuals.

Expert Review

Video Game talk

  • Excerpt: Obscure is $20. Yes, $20. In a page out of Visual Concept's book, Dreamcatcher decided to gain a foothold in the market by selling its title for a crazy low price. Fans of survival horror who have already played RE to death, might want to stop reading and go buy this disc on that fact alone.

Obscure

  • Conclusion: As for replay value, you’ll probably only play ObsCure once, which should take you five to seven hours to beat. You will unlock a few goodies (including the worst “making of” ever made) but once you’re done messing around with those things, you’ll probably never touch ObsCure again. ObsCure is simply your average survival horror game. It can be a lot of fun to play, but it doesn’t bring anything groundbreaking.

Obscure

Gamecell

  • Conclusion: Hydravision have gone for a camera system that is a cross between Resident Evil and Silent Hill . The camera will follow you around in a third-person perspective, but it’s often not directly behind you, so you might be running into the camera, or to the left of it for example. There are also static cameras in the game, which don’t hinder progress and certainly add suspense to the game.
  • Pros: A really decent survival horror game that isn’t Resi or Silent Hill., The two-player co-op mode., A sensible inventory system that works., Sounds superb (especially in Dolby Pro Logic II).
  • Cons: It’s quite a short game., More varied boss fights would have been welcome., A better way of seeing the state of your character’s health would be nice.

Obscure -

  • Summary: A very solid game that never really challenges Resident Evil, but it is a bit of fun, if you can find it cheap give it a go or at least give it a rental.

Obscure

gamereality.org
18 December 2013
  • Excerpt: "Obscure tarjoaa teinikauhuelokuvan pelin muodossa. Muutamat uudet pelilliset jipot, varsin toimiva käyttöliittymä sekä hyvät kontollit kuorrutettuna painostavalla tunnelmalla tekevät Obscuresta pelin, joka survival horror pelien ystävien kannattaa ehdottomasti katsastaa.
  • Pros: + Tunnelma, + Kontrollit/käyttöliittymä, + Useampi hahmo/moninpeli, + Grafiikka ja äänimaailma
  • Cons: - Pelin tallentaminen, - Hahmoparin vaihtaminen

Obscure II

InsideGamer
21 September 2007

Obscure

Gameplayer
25 May 2006

Obscure

Spieletipps.de
15 May 2006
Kaufempfehlung.
