Summary: This game really is pretty cool.
It has some neat aspects and some annoying ones. The targeting system
takes a while to get used to, but once you do you will find yourself being
sucked in by the game. It really just suffers from a lack of polish.
Pros: Tons of weapons and gadgets, cool levels, good voice acting, hilarious conversations by non-player characters, and the story is really fun.
Cons: No mouse support, the auto aim sucks nuts, the graphics are lacking, and the story segments are....i n c .r e d i b l y....... s.....l.....o......w.............
Excerpt: Sierra brings its classic FPS franchise to the PS2, and all we can say is that Cate deserved better. No One Lives Forever is a disappointing console port, right along the lines of Half Life for the PS2. You can't beat the story and some of the gameplay in NOLF, but it is severely flawed. Click here.
Pros: ups: Great story; great level design; excellent sense of humor; very nice sound.
Cons: downs: Graphics are dated; control is difficult; auto-aim is absurd; AI is bad.
Excerpt: The PS2 has gotten an ample supply of ports from some of the PC's greatest FPS games, and this trend is showing no signs of slowing down, as many more are to follow. Falling into this category is Monolith's No One Lives Forever, which was a huge success on the PC. Following up on that success, Monolith and Sierra hope to deliver this innovative and witty game to those that are more console accustomed.
Excerpt: For those of you who might not venture into the realm of computer games, here’s a quick recap of the storyline. In the late 60’s, the world was threatened by a criminal organization called H.A.R.M. Filled with assassins, thugs, and other assorted villains, their schemes of world domination would succeed unabated were it not for the ever-vigilant eyes of UNITY, a clandestine group dedicated to protecting the world.
Summary: No One Lives Forever is a fairly enjoyable title. It's not up to the graphical standards set by newer FPS's, but it's not a disaster either. The game includes some interesting stealth elements and is pretty fun through the moderate length. No One Lives Forever should at least be considered by FPS fans, and rented at the very least.
Excerpt: "No One Lives Forever on hauskalla ja rennolla Bond elokuvia parodioivalla meiningillä toteutettu, ulkoasultaan jo hieman vanhahtavan näköinen räiskintäpeli jota kyllä pelailee ihan mielellään myös Playstation 2:lla tosin pelin kontrollit jättävävät hieman toivomisen varaa, sillä PS2:n vakio-ohjaimella on ajoittain hyvinkin vaikeaa selvityä elävänä tarkkuutta vaativissa toimintakohtauksissa.
