Excerpt: Normally, I try not to focus on what is missing in a title but, instead, focus on its strong points. However, what NHL FaceOff 2003 doesn’t have is one of the main reasons it fails. First and foremost, in-depth slider bars are missing. Sure, you can control game speed and penalty frequency but you are stuck with SolWorks idea of perfect hockey when it comes to goalie skills, puck retention, puck friction and any number of finer points.
Excerpt: They really should have named this game NHL HipCheck 1998. I could really just end the review there, but I have actually been pulling for 989 sports to make a comeback and I want to be fair. However, where I could see that effort was made in this years version of GameDay and GameBreaker to produce a quality title, I really don’t see that with FaceOff.
