Summary: The graphics could go on Xbox. (...)Their faces are all the same. The goalies don't even move until after the goal is scored. Get NHL 2001 or 2002. Oh yeah, and don't buy an Xbox. My friends and I added up all the money you would have to pay to buy an Xbox, a game, and a controller. (...)Why spend all this money when you could just get a PS2, and a game for the amount. (Since PS2 comes with a controller.) Sorry I'm going on and on about Xbox (...
Summary: 989 just wants your money, and so they put out a garbage title like this. This is a PSX rehash for PS2, because they have not yet commited to the new platform thinking they can get more money by staying with PSX, and merely releasing a product that has the PS2 packaging. I am very displeased with this company. I own NHL Faceoff 2000 for PSX, and there is almost no difference between it and 2001. The play-by-play is horrible, and only makes you wanna strangle Darren Pang.
Summary: I rented this game and I think it was the wrost 5 dollars I've ever spent in my life. I would never even consider buying this game after playing it for only a few minutes. I would have never even rented it if i knew it was going to be this horrible. The graphics are horrible and are no better than hockey games on ps1. This game gives a bad name to ps2 and all great sports games.
Summary: I'd avoid this game at all costs, or if you need to make a decision for yourself, spend the few bucks and rent first to see how bad this game is. The game has absolutely no improvements in graphics over NHL Faceoff 2000 for the old PlayStation. I honestly thought I put the old PS1 game into my PS2, it was *that bad*. The announcers are usually 4-5 seconds behind what's actually happening on the ice.
Summary: As a long time fan of the Faceoff series, I was sadly disappointed with this game. The game has fairly solid controls, but the graphics on most PSOne hockey games put this game to shame. The camera angles make it virtually unplayable. If you use an Ice level angle, it is difficult to see some of the players on the ice as you get a worms eye view of the action. If you use a High vertical angle, the players look like ants.
Summary: This is the Worst hockey game i have ever played. I returned it the same day i bought it. The Graphics on nhl 98 are better, the menus ..., and there isn't a full international team lineup. Buy NHL 2001, it is the best hockey game i have ever played. This game is poor, not worth ... let alone .... DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
Summary: 989 Studios...what the ... are you doing? How could this game even have been unleashed on the game buying public? Doesnt anyone look at the quality of games before they are released anymore? My wife bought me this game for my birthday yesterday because she knew I loved hockey, i'm from Canada what else did you expect. I got home plugged it in and wow amazing intro, clean crisp video and everything. I was saying allright this might be good.
Summary: I've been a close follower of hockey games since EA's first NHL Hockey title for the Genesis back in the early '90's. I can honestly say that Faceoff 2001 for the PS2 is by far the absolute worst hockey game I've ever played. Despite this game being designed for the new PS2 platform, the graphics are abysmal and honestly worse than the graphics on the Playstation version of this title. The players look terrible and the announcing is so annoying you have to turn it off.
