Conclusion: NHL 2K3 will change the way you look at hockey games. I tend to think of it as the High Heat Baseball of hockey games - it plays great, but doesn't look or sound so good. If you want to play realistic hockey you need to pick this game up. But be warned that you must be ready to play realistic hockey!
Excerpt: I do like a bit of the old ice hockey. In fact, I’m sitting here slaving over a hot keyboard, wearing my Maple Leafs jersey, sipping on an ice cold Bud. Up until now, my hockey game of choice has been the PC version of NHL 2003 by EA Sports. You just can’t beat that over-the-top commentary, graphics to die for and the adrenaline rush of tucking away the winner in overtime with your created player. It just doesn’t get any better.
Excerpt: Hockey is a sport of course founded in Canada, but over time, hockey has become a global sport. Players all around the world enjoy this blood-thirsty work of art on ice. What’s even better, is playing online. Don’t worry about that damn AI anymore. There is no need for it in this year’s Sega Sports hockey title! Of course, when you first pop the game in and load it up, you notice the ESPN style menus. There is a flash back of a similar game last year.
Conclusion: Buy from Amazon! The biggest thing going against NHL 2K3 is the goalie strength. At times the strong goalies can frustrate the gamer as shot after shot is either deflected or saved. However, if you stick with the game and develop the skills needed to score or slightly modify goalie strengths, you'll find one incredibly good game. If realism is your goal, NHL 2K3 isn't completely realistic, but it's pretty darn good.
