Summary: I thought this was the best hockey playwise nhl.i havent played 2002,but play wise it is much more like the real nhl! especially the saves the goalies make, they literally steal the game or leave it tied at times! the defense is much more like real nhl,but 03',and 04' did have better graphics thats why i give it 4 stars! i highly recommend it!
Summary: Get this for only the used price. It was a great start of Hockey for the PS2 system. Any part of the game play can be updated and made to make the game easier to play. Great graphics and better game play then it's counter part for the PS1.
Summary: I have to say, I really dig this game. The graphics aren't perfect, but they are pretty good and most of the hockey players look like their real life counterparts. The game is rather balanced and it's way fun to check someone into the glass and steal the puck. You can practically feel the exhiliration when you score a goal or the disappointment and anger when a goal is scored on you. The replay of goals is really tasty, let's you have to feeling of really being there.
Summary: Right after I bought my Playstation 2, I bought NHL 2001. This is a really good game with a few problems. There is every team in the NHL and teams from other countries. The graphics are really good, controlls are good, but loading time is terrible. It takes longer than most Playstation games take to load. They should have put this on a DVD.
Summary: NHL '98 was the first sports game I ever bought. I had never been interested in sports games before, but the speed and brutal checking had me hooked. Me and my friends would play '98 for hours! Then NHL 99 came out - what a dud! What a disappointment! Enter NHL 2001. The graphics are great and the commentary by Clement and Thorne sounds just like they do when I am watching an Avs game.
Summary: EA Sports certainly put all their attention to this years hockey games to the Playstation2. Their NHL 2001 for the Psx1 was terrible and nothing new when compared to last years title. However, on the Psx2, things are much different and the disapointment level is much less. To start with, this game looks amazing.
Summary: I know it's cliche to say a sports game for a next generation system like the Playstation 2 or the Dreamcast is like "watching a real televised game," but, NHL 2001 is truly the closest thing I've seen yet to that statement. If you glance at the game with your peripheral vision, I doubt you could tell the difference between the PS2 and the real thing on TV.
Summary: I had played this a few times before I bought it and loved it!!! Each time I had played it, I was going head to head with someone else and only started playing against the computer when I bought it myself. The game has tremendous graphics and hockey fan or not you will love the play of this game. The biggest drawback I have found so far is the differnce between the Rookie level and Pro level.
Summary: Ok. I have played basically every single EA Sports NHLsince NHLPA 1993 and this game completes the evolution of EA's superb NHL dynasty. I mean how much more realistic can this game get (with the exception of a few flaws which i will explain later on). The Pros - the AI is superb - the controls make this game the most realistic game ever (no more cheap goals like psx and super nintendo versions of NHL) - Fantasy Draft (no other hockey games have this cool feature) The...
