Summary: EA Sports certainly put all their attention to this years hockey games to the Playstation2. Their NHL 2001 for the Psx1 was terrible and nothing new when compared to last years title. However, on the Psx2, things are much different and the disapointment level is much less.
Summary: I have to say, I really dig this game. The graphics aren't perfect, but they are pretty good and most of the hockey players look like their real life counterparts. The game is rather balanced and it's way fun to check someone into the glass and steal the puck.
Summary: I have put a frightening amount of time into NHL videogames, EA and non EA. I recall debates over Ice Hockey or Blades of Steel, which was more rad? The 80's were dope... Just to get a few things straight, I'll sum up the last few years of hockey game history:: NHL '98 for PS changed everything NHL...
Summary: I have been playing the EaSports NHL games since the beginning and have seen some really great features added to the EA NHL history of games. This by far is the best out there today. EaSports doesn't disappoint with this one.
Summary: NHL 2001 is by far the best hockey game I've ever played. For any system. Hands down. This is a bold statement, considering I've played EA Sports' since the beginning (only skipping NHL 1999). The graphics are as crisp as any game i've seen on the PS2 thus far.
Summary: Get this for only the used price. It was a great start of Hockey for the PS2 system. Any part of the game play can be updated and made to make the game easier to play. Great graphics and better game play then it's counter part for the PS1.
Summary: I thought this was the best hockey playwise nhl.i havent played 2002,but play wise it is much more like the real nhl! especially the saves the goalies make, they literally steal the game or leave it tied at times!
Summary: This game is great. Easily the best play-by-play i've ever heard, the graphics are fantastic and the gameplay modes are great. You can change your team's offensive or defensive strategies. Here's why it doesn't get 5 stars: the fights are a joke, and the penalties are silly.
Summary: Basically, the only reason I buy gaming systems is to upgrade hockey. This was definetly a worthy upgrade! The graphics are the best I've seen so far, sound is good, and playablity is excellent. The commentating is good but as usual it tends to get a little repetative.
Summary: Right after I bought my Playstation 2, I bought NHL 2001. This is a really good game with a few problems. There is every team in the NHL and teams from other countries. The graphics are really good, controlls are good, but loading time is terrible.
