Summary: This is one of the best hockey games ever made. There is only 3 problems, the salary cap in dynasty mode sucks i think they should eliminate it for NHL 08. I also think that EA should change the commintators for the next NHL games, Ken Danials and Mickey Redmond would be the best commintators for the game because they are so exciting to listen to. I think they should also wait until after the Draft to make the rosters for the teams.
Summary: I disagree with many of the reviews about this game because I still think it is a pretty good game. The graphics are pretty good aside from the coaches. The players and uniforms are all well down and game flows smoothly and doesn't look cheesy. However, I can't deny the fact that goaltenders have a lack of sucess and are just skaters with masks; pulling the goalies for an extra attacker doesn't mean sacrificing much defense so I wish that the developers would make...
Summary: The new controller lay out takes some getting used but once mastered goes easily. Overall the game is a blast. However there are some areas within the game that seemed rushed. Lack of updated photos of players within the game. As far as I can tell they are the same photos from the NHL '06 game. Also I have noticed a couple of times when showing the bench during the game there is some interference in the back ground.
Summary: look this game is extremely well made and is good, if you are thinking about buying it do it. the only problems with it is that after awhile you may be come so good against the computer in dynasty mode that you have to sim the game until the 3rd period, but its still sweet that way. oh lastly, the salary cap thing in dynasty mode sucks so much. but overall this game is amazing.
Summary: As an avid hockey fan who wanted to finally get a chance to play with Sidney Crosby, I had been awaiting this game for a while now. While you will see a lot of the reviews harp on the negative, I'll try to keep it as even as possible with pros and cons, because lets face it, everything is going to have negatives regardless. For starters, as is usual with the NHL games from EA, the rosters are updated.....with last years draft class.
Summary: Let me start off by saying that I can understand some of the negative views on this game. Sure, it looks and sounds like NHL 06, but if it weren't for the odd control scheme, one would think it was a tad like NHL 2004. Where this isn't a huge upgrade to last years game, it is better. By no means am I saying that it's an NHL 2004 clone--that it's not. However, like NHL 2004, the defenses swallow-up the puck carriers and clog the neutral zone.
Excerpt: The last time I played NHL on a gaming system was on the Sega Megadrive! The game (in terms of AI & graphics etc.) has moved on a fair bit since then. However, so has the complexity in terms of playing it. I found the controls difficult, and didn't flow as well as other sports games (Fifa 07 for example), so spoilt my enjoyment of this one a bit. All in all, not too bad, but not one for me.
Summary: Very good game, but for hardcore fans who've been playing the series for a while controls will take getting used to. Even with new controls great game -more realistic goalies -shoot-out mode -NO easy skill-stick goals
